Singer and Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan checks in to our travel Q&A

This week singer and Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan checks in to our travel Q&A.

She recalls her travel adventures, which includes staying in a hotel with mousetraps under the bed and wet sheets and visiting Magaluf with her teenage daughter.

Favourite city?

New York. I went there in the early 1990s for the first time on Concorde.

Favourite hotel?

The Waldorf Astoria in New York, because of its history.

Travel essential?

Toothpaste. Not having it would just be wrong.

Memorable view?

Mount Fuji from Japan’s bullet train. It is spectacular.

Worst place?

A hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. We arrived after a 12-hour coach ride and there were mousetraps under the bed and the sheets were wet.

Strangest meal?

At a Japanese restaurant in the 1980s they put live prawns on a griddle and the things started jumping.

Scariest trip?

We were coming back from Florida and one of the plane’s engines failed. It took three days to get home as they put us back on the plane and the engine failed again.

Memorable holiday?

Coleen says her most memorable holiday was going to the Maldives alone. However, she says after a week she was bored

Coleen says her most memorable holiday was going to the Maldives alone. However, she says after a week she was bored

I went to the Maldives on my own, and I remember thinking, if heaven exists, this is what I’d like it to be like. Then after a week I was bored.

Fantasy traveller?

George Clooney.

Where to next?

A big family trip to Florida to do all the theme parks. I’d also like to fly and flop somewhere like Spain.

Your last holiday?

I took my daughter and eight of her friends aged 17-18 to Magaluf. I’d wake up as they were coming in after a night out.
