Dancing with the Stars: Tyra Banks feels ‘pressure’ to host well

Tyra Banks has some very big shoes to fill when she hosts season 29 of Dancing With The Stars after veterans Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were let go.

The 46-year-old Vogue supermodel will be on her own as she does not have a co-host to bounce jokes off of. And this week the beauty admitted to UsWeekly that she is certainly feeling the ‘pressure.’

This comes just as DailyMail.com has heard that DWTS producers have reached out to Derek Hough, who stars on Jennifer Lopez’s Emmy nominated World Of Dance, to come back to the show.

She has to nail it: Tyra Banks has some very big shoes to fill when she hosts season 29 of Dancing With The Stars after veterans Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were let go. And this week the beauty admitted to UsWeekly that she is certainly feeling the ‘pressure.’ Seen in 2016

Tyra said to Us: ‘My goal is for a 12-year-old to be sitting on the couch with their parents and grandparents and everybody can relate personally to what they see on that screen.

‘That’s a hint. Not giving up the goods. You’ll have to tune in!’

The former Victoria’s Secret model said in a statement, ‘I’ve been a fan of DWTS since its beginning …

‘The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances.

'Let's just keep this real, it's gonna be so next level,' Tyra teased about season 29 on GMA. 'We're doing all this crazy stuff, taking it to the next level, but still keeping the stuff America loves'

‘It’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk. Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.’

Banks also said she was ‘excited’ to step into the role of both host and executive producer and thrilled to ‘break down’ barriers by becoming the show’s first solo black female host.

While she couldn’t divulge too many details, Tyra hinted that she and the show’s other executive producer are working together to make some changes on the celebrity dance series.

‘Let’s just keep this real, it’s gonna be so next level,’ she teased. ‘We’re doing all this crazy stuff, taking it to the next level, but still keeping the stuff America loves.’

As far as 35-year-old Hough coming back, sources have told DailyMail.com that he has been approached.

‘They have always liked working with him because he is very professional and really talented plus just an overall nice guy. The celebrities trust him.

‘And it does not hurt that he has a huge following and fans want him back.

‘But he has been working with J-Lo on World Of Dance for two seasons. So it’s hard to tell what he will decide.’

The Cha-Cha expert was on DWTS from 2007 until 2016. In 2017 he joined World Of Dance. He has also worked as an actor on Jane The Virgin, Nashville and Hairspray Live!

Also on Tuesday, ET claimed DWTS is set to resume production in September.

The strategy for how to safely and successfully film the competition dance series is reportedly in flux, however, with the timeline subject to change due to a growing number of COVID-19 cases.

The DWTS team is ‘getting creative’ about how to safely resume production as diagnosed cases of COVID-19 are on the rise, ET reported.

Production for season 29 is scheduled to begin in September but because of the pandemic but ‘it’s possible that the date could be moved around if new issues arise or safety protocols change in Los Angeles.’

Last week, California averaged 9,558 new coronavirus cases, making the total number of confirmed cases in the Golden State over 467K.

Details about how the show will safely film, particularly with the dancers needing to be in such close contact, haven’t been revealed at this time.

Aside from the safety concerns causing some production changes, the show will have a different feel from the previous 15 years with a new host at the helm.

Casting for season 29 hasn’t been unveiled with the exception of Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe who was announced in June.

‘I’ll be happy with whoever they partner me with. I just feel like they’re all incredible,’ Bristowe told ET after her big reveal. ‘They have to be to be on that show!’

Last season, fellow Bachelor Nation star Hannah Brown took home the coveted mirror ball trophy with her partner Alan Bersten.
