EastEnders’ Danny Dyer, 43, is seen for first time since daughter Dani, 23, announced pregnancy

Danny Dyer was spotted heading to work on the EastEnders set on Wednesday, in his first public sighting since daughter Dani, 23, announced her pregnancy.

Donning a pair of sunglasses, the 43-year-old actor looked stone-faced as he pulled up at the Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, set in his black luxury car, stopping briefly for a temperature check amid new COVID-19 regulations.

Looking casually cool in a black T-shirt, the grandfather-to-be then steered his way onto the set to settle in for his day of work, hours before his daughter teased a glimpse of her baby bump in a new Instagram post.

Dani, who announced on Tuesday afternoon that she’s expecting her first child with on-off boyfriend  Sammy Kimmence, 23, took to the image-sharing platform to promote a toothbrush in a pre-paid advertisement.

But the shot drew the attention of fans all the more, as it served as something of a baby bump debut for the Love Island star, who beamed as she posed in a hot pink tank top teamed with a pair of dark shorts.

Making no mention of her good news, the reality star looked radiant as she sported spectacles while wearing her golden locks in a glossy ponytail.

Dani’s news is set to make her dad Danny a dad well before his 44th birthday.

The EastEnders star, who has three children, was just 18 when his wife Joanne welcomed their first child Dani, after getting together aged 14.

In her announcement, Dani said she was looking forward to parenthood with Sammy and felt ‘excited, lucky and grateful’ ahead of becoming a mother.

She wrote: ‘Little bubba can’t believe you are going to be ours. Me and Sammy are so excited to start this next chapter in our lives, feel so lucky and grateful..’

The news comes just three months after Dani and Sammy rekindled their relationship following a brief, four week separation.

The TV personality ended the couple’s 10-month romance amid claims her boyfriend’s court case for scamming two elderly men out of £34,000 had put ‘a strain on their relationship’.

Sammy was accused of posing as a financial investor and duping the men – aged 90 and 80 – out of thousands by running ‘S&S Trading Ltd’ for two and a half years, which he denied.

His victims, Peter Martin and Peter Haynes, were said to have been clients at a legitimate investment company where he previously worked.

The couple – who had dated prior to Dani’s Love Island stint – grew close during lockdown after Sammy reportedly ‘begged’ the reality star to spend time with him.

In January, Dani’s ex and Love Island winner Jack Fincham announced the shock birth of his own daughter Blossom, nine months after the couple announced their separation.

Protective dad Danny, who is known for his hardman persona due to his acting roles, has always been vocal about his close bond with his daughter and previously called Love Island a ‘pile of s**t’.

Back in April, the television personality spoke about how her father Danny reacted to the news she was going on the show

The reality star, who won the ITV dating show with Jack in 2018, told Emma Gannon in a Ctrl Alt Delete episode she only told the EastEnders actor two weeks prior to flying out to the Mallorcan villa.

Talking about the moment she told her parents about the show, Dani said: ‘It was really tough because my mum, I told first.. you know “mum I’ve been approached for Love Island” and she was like “go for it, go for it”.

‘My mum was so pushy, “why don’t you just go on Love Island, you don’t really know what you’re doing” – great faith in me mum.

‘But it was very like, you know, “just go on it”, and I was like, “I don’t know how I’m going to tell my dad”.’

Dani revealed when she finally told him two weeks before flying out for the show, it was “very, very awkward in the house”.

‘He wasn’t thrilled about it,’ she admitted. ‘He didn’t really understand the concept of it and I was so glad when they won a BAFTA because I was like…see dad it really is a cool programme.

‘But my mum and dad didn’t really get along. They sort of didn’t tell me that. Cause obviously when I was in there they were so worried.’

Dani previously revealed that her actor dad, best known for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders, struggled with parenting at the age of 18.

She penned in her memoir: He was very young to be having a baby and didn’t really know what he was doing.’

She added he has reflected on his younger days: ‘He’ll be the first to admit this was the period in time when he was partying like mad and going off the rails.

‘I don’t think he really understood the concept of being a dad. But it also meant he felt guilty so he would buy me everything.’

The former barmaid also said that she witnessed her parents, who split when she was born but rekindled their romance years later, have disputes and that she ‘thought it was normal for your mum and dad to argue.’
