Restaurant group Qoot receives 700 applications for three jobs

Restaurant group Qoot is inundated with 700 applications for three jobs in just 24 hours

  • Qoot runs restaurants in London and the Middle East and is opening new ones
  • It had to withdraw the jobs advert after 48 hours

A restaurant group has been deluged with 700 applications in just 24 hours for three jobs.

Qoot said it had been inundated by applications from hospitality employees recently made redundant as it plans to open three new London sites.

The group posted an online job advert for three general managers and received more than 14 times the usual number of applicants.

Scot Turner, vice-president of operations at Qoot, said the calibre of the applicants was ‘sensational’

Qoot, which runs restaurants in London and the Middle East, is opening a branch of The Lebanese Bakery in Harrods next month, and two Chestnut bakeries in Belgravia and Covent Garden in November.

The three managers hired to run the sites will be paid a salary of £40,000 to £50,000, plus bonus.

Qoot had to withdraw the advert after 48 hours, after being swamped by jobseekers from Cote, Carluccio’s, Pizza Express, The Restaurant Group, The Ivy Collection and The Savoy Hotel.

Scot Turner, vice-president of operations at Qoot, said the calibre of the applicants was ‘sensational’, but called the redundancies across major high street chains ‘a terrible shame’.
