Orlando Bloom on ‘ups and downs’ with pregnant fiancée Katy Perry

Orlando Bloom admits his romance with pregnant fiancée Katy Perry has ‘gone on its own roller coaster of ups and downs’

Orlando Bloom has admitted that his romance with pregnant fiancée Katy Perry is not the ‘kind of Hollywood love story’ you may want to hear.

Speaking candidly to News Corp Australia on Saturday, the American actor described their journey together as a ‘roller coaster of ups and downs’.

The 43-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star began dating the pop singer in early 2016, announcing their engagement on Valentine’s Day last year.

‘I wish I could tell you that it was all joyful and happy,’ Orlando told News Corp with a laugh.

‘But like anything in life that’s real, it’s taken its own course. It’s gone on its own roller coaster of ups and downs,’ he candidly continued.

Orlando went on to recall how they first met at Harvey Weinstein’s 2016 Golden Globes after party.

After noticing Katy, 35, at a table, he asked her for a hamburger, gave her a wink, and they enjoyed the remainder of the night chatting and dancing.

And while the rest is all history, Orlando added that it’s ‘not by any means the kind of Hollywood love story you might want to hear about’.

Katy and Orlando first started dating in early 2016, but split in February 2017.

The couple reconciled in April 2018, and Orlando popped the question in a romantic Valentine’s Day proposal the following year.

Katy showed off her stunning ruby and diamond engagement ring to Instagram at the time, and wrote in the caption: ‘Full bloom’.

They are due to welcome their first child together in the American summer, and were forced to postpone their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is not the first time Katy or Orlando have got engaged.

Orlando revealed on Sunday Today with Willie Geist in August last year that he doesn’t want to get divorced a second time.

‘It’s important to me that we are aligned. I’ve been married and divorced and I don’t want to do it again,’ he said. ‘And we’re both fully aware of that.’

‘She’s remarkable and so I’m always impressed with that and I’m encouraged,’ Orlando added.
