Bella Hadid and ex-boyfriend The Weeknd reunite at MTV VMA rehearsals in NYC

They last split up in August last year, blaming conflicting schedules on the reason why their on/off relationship had once again come to an end.

However, it seems friendly exes Bella Hadid and The Weeknd have managed to sync their diaries, as an insider informs DailyMail.com that the pair crossed paths on Friday, during rehearsals for the 2020 MTV VMAs in New York City. 

The 30-year-old singer – real name Abel Tesfaye – is nominated for an impressive six gongs at the Sunday bash and is also scheduled to perform, while Bella, 23, has been confirmed as a presenter.

According to an insider on-site at the VMA rehearsals, supermodel Bella was spotted at the NYC shoot location the same day that Grammy-award winning artist Abel wrapped up rehearsals for his upcoming performance.

‘They played it cool and crossed paths with each other, same place, same time,’ an insider reveals, adding that the pair still appear to be ‘on good terms.’ 

It will certainly be interesting to see if Bella ends up presenting an award, as it might just result in an on-screen reunion for the former lovers.

The romance began between the pair after they first spotted at Coachella music festival together, back in April 2015. 

He later confirmed to Rolling Stone that he connected with Bella after he asked if she would appear on the artwork for his album Beauty Behind the Madness. 

The 2020 MTV VMAs were originally scheduled to be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, before the coronavirus pandemic forced organizers to re-think the entire event.

This year’s show marks the first time the bash has been held at various different locations, with performances taking place in and around New York City, without packed audiences to abide by social distancing guidelines.

MTV explained its plans for the show to ‘[span] all five boroughs’ of New York, to ‘pay homage to the strength, spirit and incredible resilience of NYC and its beloved residents.’

Nominations this year were dominated by pop performers Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, with nine nods each, while Billie Eilish and The Weeknd followed closely behind with six each.
