BUSINESS LIVE: Government campaign to get people back to work

BUSINESS LIVE: Government launching campaign to get people back to work; Amigo’s profits fall sharply; Gatwick Airport cuts jobs

A UK Government campaign looks set to be launched next week, encouraging people to get back to the office and get Britain moving again.

The campaign will try and promote the benefits of going back to the office and seek to reassure people about the measures being taken to halt the spread of Covid-19.

Elsewhere, Gatwick Airport is shedding around 600 jobs as a result of the pandemic.

This follows Pret A Manger revealing around 2,800 jobs yesterday.

Today, lender Amigo reported a stinging drop in profits for the last quarter, as it halted lending to the vast majority of potential new customers and saw many existing customers take up payment holidays.

Last night, the FTSE 100 index ended up below the 6000 mark. It picked up slightly early this morning, but has since slipped back again.
