Kate Middleton does Dynasty: Duchess of Cambridge launches photo contest with video promo in ’80s-style shoulder pads… just like Joan Collins

  • The Duchess wore a crepe tuxedo with shoulder pads by Alexander McQueen
  • She also sported pearl earrings and had glossy ‘brondette’ highlights in her hair
  • The royal was launching the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition

It’s the annual launch pad for stunning images of animals which showcase the best of nature.

And the Duchess of Cambridge heralded this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition – wearing shoulder pads which appeared to come straight from classic 1980s soap Dynasty.

Kate, 38, who will announce the winner of the competition in a virtual awards ceremony tonight, stepped in front of TV cameras in a video filmed in the Natural History Museum’s Hintze Hall in London.

Founded in 1964, the museum’s contest is the world’s longest running and most prestigious annual wildlife photography prize.
