Channel 10 axes Trial By Kyle after host Kyle Sandilands revealed he ‘never wanted to do the show’ in the first place

Channel 10 has axed Trial By Kyle, the courtroom-style reality show hosted by radio host Kyle Sandilands.

The Judge Judy-inspired program, which saw contestants attempt to settle their petty grievances in the ‘court of Kyle’, debuted as a pilot two years ago and aired for a full season in 2019.

But it failed to get a mention at the network’s recent Upfronts event, and a Channel 10 confirmed in a statement, on Tuesday: ‘Trial By Kyle won’t be returning in 2021.’

Kyle Sandilands’ manager, Bruno Bouchet, also confirmed the show’s axing to Daily Mail Australia and hinted that it was no great loss to his client.

‘Kyle wasn’t keen on wasn’t keen on Trial By Kyle,’ Mr Bouchet said. ‘It’s definitely not coming back.’

Back in May, the 49-year-old shock jock had said it was unlikely the show would return given the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘I don’t think that’s coming back. ‘I think that’s another victim of the coronavirus, thank God,’ he said.

The KIIS FM radio star has made no secret of the fact he didn’t like filming the show, nor was he particularly impressed by the finished product.

He told TV Tonight last year that while the program grew on him over time, he ‘didn’t want to do this show in the first place’.

‘It’s a pain in the a**e filming all day Saturday and Sunday and then working five days a week,’ he said.

‘I never wanted to do it. It wasn’t my idea and my company [King Kyle Pty Ltd] doesn’t own it, so what the f**k am I doing it for? To make some other company money?’

He also said ‘there were too many losers’ from other TV shows taking part.
