The This Is Us star, 43, who recently shed light on his ‘happy personal life’ a year after filing for divorce from Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause, admitted the injury ‘sounded like I ripped my shirt’, but insisted he’s ‘totally healed now’.

During an appearance on Tuesday’s edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor said: ‘I was working out and I ended up doing something really ridiculous. I tore my bicep off my arm. It was nasty.’

Ouch! Justin Hartley has revealed he tore his bicep during a workout at the start of the coronavirus lockdown earlier this year during Tuesday’s upcoming edition of The Ellen Show

The thespian explained how he initially wanted to pick up an instrument or foreign language during the height of the pandemic, but ended up building a gym at his home in Los Angeles instead.

The Young and the Restless star told the host: ‘I thought I’d learn an instrument and learn a foreign language, but I didn’t do any of that!’

Detailing how he sustained the ‘shocking’ injury, the Illinois native explained: ‘The tendon that holds it to the bone came off. It sounded like someone just ripped your shirt. It was bad.

‘[The exercise] was something that I made up. It was something that I shouldn’t have done. It was like a bicep curl, but I think I jerked the weight or maybe it was too much weight.

‘I heard it. I think I was in shock, but it felt like… the way I would describe it is, I stopped because I heard it. It was an awful sound.’

The media personality went on to describe the recovery process, revealing it took three months until he was healed.

The TV star added: ‘I felt like a little grain of sand [near my bicep]. Then it turned into like a pea, then a marble, then a golf ball, then a tennis ball, then a softball, and then a watermelon.

‘It just feeling like it was huge, like a human head was in there. I think it was just the swelling, but they put it all back.

‘But I’ve also sort of always had this view that I will have a public life, but I will be very private about my personal affairs.’

In an interview with People earlier this month, Chrishell acknowledged that it had been ‘painful’ to see her former partner publicly move on from their marriage.

‘I feel like anybody would be heartbroken to see how quickly or easily you are replaced; of course that’s going to sting,’ the actress said.

However, after a bout of therapy and the passage of time, the Days of Our Lives star said she’s currently ‘very happy’.

‘I’m in such a great place and I’m so grateful for everything, she said. ‘I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.’
