‘Easy tiger!’ Piers Morgan is left speechless as Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid makes a VERY saucy joke at the expense of his ‘Top Gun helmet’

Piers Morgan saw the funny side on Thursday morning after Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid delivered a saucy quip at his expense.

The usually outspoken Morgan was seemingly lost for words after showing off a gold pilot’s helmet that had been gifted him earlier that morning, prompting a close-to-the-knuckle reply from Susanna.

‘So this is great, this was waiting for me in my dressing room today,’ the 55-year old announced after retrieving the headwear from beneath his desk.

‘Is that your lockdown helmet?’ Susanna remarked, resulting in the pair bursting into fits of knowing laughter.

Momentarily speechless, a stunned Piers attempted to move on with the segment after responding: ‘Easy tiger!’

Attempting to explain the helmet’s relevance, he added: ‘When I was young my favourite movie was Top Gun. I loved Top Gun. I went to see it, I don’t know, ten times?

‘I watch it every year, and part of me wants to be Maverick, but also Goose, the wing man, who obviously dies in the film. You always want to be the wing man.

‘So being a wing man has been a dream of mine and I get this in my dressing room this morning. There’s a new wing man in town. There it is, got my name on the front.’

Morgan went on to explain that the helmet had been gifted to him by budget supermarket Aldi for his persistent questioning of Boris Johnson’s government during the coronavirus pandemic.

The helmet is one of many gifted to various public figures for being Britain’s ‘wing men’ during the ongoing crisis, with a poll conducted by Aldi putting Piers in seventh place.

Commenting on the gift, he said: ‘It’s rather nice actually. We get so much abuse just for being us during this pandemic. For taking on the government we got abuse, we get get abused left right and centre.

‘But Aldi commissioned a poll to celebrate the people who have really kept the nation going and to thank our wingmen and women for keeping the nation smiling.’

Referencing his place in the poll, he quipped: ‘What’s even more pleasing is I’ve split up the This Morning duo. Holly at 6, but Phil at 8.

‘They knew how to please me, splitting up This Morning in that way, they knew how to please me. So thank you.’
