Rihanna reveals a chic mullet as she shuts down a restaurant for a private dinner

She returned to wearing black box braids back in September after a stint with straight hair.

And Rihanna emerged on Wednesday with an edgy new hairstyle as she dined at the swanky Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica with her hairstylist Yusef Williams.

As the two walked up to the restaurant, the 32-year-old pop superstar showed off her hairstylist’s newest work: a stylish mullet.

On the town: Rihanna, 32, showed off her chic new mullet as she dined privately at Santa Monica’s swanky Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi with her hairstylist Yusef Williams on Wednesday

Rihanna sported straight hair, with short bangs covering her forehead and a voluminous swath of longer hair that was fanned out in back and featured brunette highlights.

The singer caused a stir back in 2013 when she debuted the low-key hairstyle at New York Fashion Week.

Back then, her hair was shorn closer to her skin on the sides of her head, and the party in the back section was thinner.

More recently, Miley Cyrus has been helping to rehabilitate the mullet’s reputation.

Her new look helped frame her chunky black sunglasses and her earrings.

Her hairstylist Yufsef arrived in his own eye-catching look.

He had on a brown leopard-print jacket that reached down to his knees, which he wore over a white and black striped shirt and a more minimalist black long-sleeve shirt and matching trousers.

California currently has a mask mandate requiring face covers to be worn in all public places where social distancing isn’t possible.

Although diners in Los Angeles are allowed to remove masks while eating, Governor Gavin Newsom clarified last month that they should keep them on before they begin eating and after the finish, as well as during any downtime during their meals.

Rihanna had her night on the town as her fans have been clamoring for her to release her follow-up album to 2016’s Anti.

The collection was among her most critically acclaimed releases, and it topped the Billboard 200 album chart and Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop album chart.

Back in February, the Ocean’s 8 actress revealed that she was back in the studio making music with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, who make up the production duo The Neptunes.

She previously collaborated with the two and their N.E.R.D. bandmate Shay Haley on the 2017 single Lemon.

Rihanna has been spending more time in the US in recent months, following a lengthy stint in London in the last few years as she oversaw her Fenty beauty and fashion empire.
