Kerri-Anne Kennerley, 67, looks unrecognisable in her ‘saucy grandmother’ costume as she rehearses for the new musical Pippin after getting axed from Studio 10

She’s the showbiz icon who was made redundant from Studio 10 earlier this year.

And on Thursday, Kerri-Anne Kennerley looked completely unrecognisable as she rehearsed for her latest project – the musical Pippin – in which she has one of the leading roles.

The 67-year-old looked worlds away from her days on the Channel 10 talk show, as she donned her full ‘saucy grandmother’ costume to play Berthe in the all singing, all dancing production in Sydney.

The TV legend was dressed in an unusual patterned frock as she sat on-stage with her co-star Ainsley Melham, as her usual bleached locks were replaced with a regal curly wig.

She wore lashings of blush and mascara on her face to ensure her looks popped under the spotlight, and appeared in high spirits as she showed off her acting skills – all the while sat on an excercise ball.

In the popular musical, an acrobatic troupe tells the story of Pippin, a man who longs to find passion and adventure in his life – and seeks advice from his grandmother in the process.

Kerri-Anne recently spoke about her new project when she crashed breakfast program Studio 10 three months after they axed her.

The show’s co-hosts Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus were interviewing Rhonda Burchmore, when Kerri suddenly crashed the program.

‘Hello, I’d just thought I would pop by. Rhonda, love you, I can’t really hear you, but I was just being a naughty girl throwing myself by,’ Kerri-Anne said.

A shocked Sarah added: ‘Good morning! It is so lovely to see you. Are you surviving?’

Kerri-Anne told viewers ‘I am surviving down here’, before discussing her role in new musical Pippin.

‘It’s almost killing me but so much fun! We have the most brilliant acrobats, the most fabulous dancers,’ she explained.

She went on to tell Rhonda: ‘You’d fit right in. Actually I wish it was you. Do you want a job now?’

‘I’m loving it with these kids. Pippin will be wonderful… but I don’t want to interrupt the show so I better go,’ Kerri-Anne said before walking off the set.
