Heading back to Summer Bay? Tai Hara reveals he’s ‘open’ to returning to Home and Away to reprise his role as bad boy Andy Barrett

Tai Hara has revealed that he’s ‘open’ to returning to Home and Away.

The 30-year-old actor – who starred as bad boy Andy Barrett in the soap before his character went on the run in 2016 – has revealed he’s already spoken to Jackson Gallagher, who played his on-screen half-brother Josh, about making a comeback.

Tai, whose character fled after Josh was convicted of killing Charlotte King, said he often has a ‘chuckle’ with Jackson about the idea of where their characters are now.

‘Jackson and I, when we do catch up, still have a bit of a chuckle about where Andy and Josh are now, you know, a fishing expo or maybe hiding out somewhere in far North Queensland,’ Tai said.

‘I feel like maybe they’ve gone to a tropical island.’

Although his character has been absent from the show for four years, Tai is refusing to rule out a comeback.

The actor – who starred in the US political drama ‘Madam Secretary’ in 2019 – suggested that the door for a comeback will remain open while his character is still alive.

He told Now to Love: ‘We definitely joke about the Barretts coming back. The thing is they never died, so it’s all open.’

Tai also admitted he was open to the idea of returning to the soap in 2019.

The star – who joined the ‘Home and Away’ cast in 2013 – thinks Andy is ‘still alive out there somewhere’ and suggested he’d like to make a comeback at some point.

Asked about the possibility, Tai explained: ‘I never say never. Fortunately I didn’t die when I left now which I’m sure he is still alive out there somewhere.’

The news comes after Tai and wife Fely, 31, welcomed their first child together.
