A happy shopper who found her ‘future’ wedding dress raised eyebrows when she revealed she is not in fact engaged.

The anonymous woman, believed to be from the US, boasted about finding the dress in an antique shop, for $20.

She later revealed, after many people congratulated her on her wedding, that she’s not actually getting married, but had bought the gown in preparation for the future.

The happy bargain alarmed members of That’s It, I’m Wedding Shaming on Facebook where her post was shared, who said that whoever is dating the shopper should ‘run for the hills.’

The woman, whose identity was kept secret, explained she had come across the dress while shopping at her local antique store and could not pass up the opportunity.

‘Found my future wedding dress today. I fell in love with this dress and couldn’t pass it up. It was only $20 and it fits perfectly.’

She explained she did not know when the dress, a medieval-inspited gown with drop sleeves, dated from, and asked people for their opinion.

However, another detail in her post shocked some people.

The happy shopper, who said the loose dress 'fit perfectly' said she found it on sale for $20 (£15) and could not pass up the opportunity

After receiving well wishes, the shopper edited her original post to write:  ‘Thank you for the congratulations! I’m not actually getting married yet, but you know… Someday.’

The woman didn’t reveal if she’s in a relationship or single, however some found it odd she would buy the dress without being engaged first.

People remarked how odd the idea was when the post was re-shared among the online wedding shaming community.

‘I like the dress for like a simple low budget beach wedding type thing, but to buy a dress without having a wedding planned (or mans for all we know) is odd,’ said one.

‘Why do people buy wedding dresses when there ain’t a wedding,’ asked another.

‘Wait…not getting married yet but owns a dress,’ one asked.

‘Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that shes not even getting married,’ joked another.

‘This is how you scare away any potential future partner. Man, woman, nonbinary, all of the above or fluid. Lady, you’re TERRIFYING,’ one added.

Along with her post, the shopper has shared two pictures of the dress, one taken from the front and the other from the back.

The dress appeared too big and loose around her frame, in spite of the ‘bride-to-be’ saying it fitted ‘perfectly.’

Her choice of dress was also a point of contention, and was not to the taste of the many people commenting.

‘So she’s crazy and has bad taste. Oh no,’ said one person.

‘Well let’s hope that enough time passes that when she actually DOES get engaged, she’ll completely change her mind because this dress is horrible,’ said another.
