I’m A Celebrity 2020 Final: Jordan North reflects on ‘horrible’ trials as he finishes second

He’s entertained viewers with his positive attitude, determination and funny one-liners during three weeks in the camp.

And Jordan North has now reflected on his exciting stint in the Welsh Castle after finishing the competition in second place, with Giovanna Fletcher crowned queen.

Speaking after the show, the radio DJ, 30, explained how he couldn’t believe how far he has come in tackling all his fears and taking on several tricky challenges.

Looking back on his time on the show after watching a montage of highlights, he said: ‘I can’t believe that from where I started to getting to know you, totally forgot… I stripped off my boxers [in the shower with Shane]!’ 

Jordan continued: ‘Stupidly I thought I could get away with doing trials and at best come out midway, and then I spewed on a cliff… I thought any thing with snakes, heights, or tight spaces I couldn’t do but I did!’  

Realising he’s managed to conquer lots of fears in the past thee weeks, Jordan said: ‘That’s a lot to take in. I didn’t realise looking back on that how much I did.’

‘I said after that [doing some trials] my confidence grew massively and I felt I could take on whatever was coming next, that was awful waiting around to go in.

‘These trials are horrible, they aren’t as easy as they look on TV! They are awful.

‘I remember my brother saying it to me “when your cold, when you’re wet, when you’re tired, then go to your happy place”. I think it’s something from the army but I’m not sure… that is my happy place when I’m… with my uncle and brothers.’    

Jordan has completed several trials during his time on I’m A Celeb and was sure to make a lasting impression after he vomited on the launch show.

The star was seen jetting into the show in a helicopter and then having to abseil down a cliff – which didn’t sit very well with his stomach.

Proud: Realising he’s managed to conquer lots of fears in the past thee weeks, Jordan said in his exit interview: ‘That’s a lot to take in. I didn’t realise looking back on that how much I did.’ 

His first taste of the trials was in the Viper Vault back on November 16, with Jordan mentally going to his happy place as he and Vernon Kay took on the task.

Jordan also managed the Frights of the Round Table eating challenge and Trapped Door, which saw insects being tipped onto his head.  

During his exit interview, the star also chatted about how he was on the fence about even appearing on the show, telling the hosts that he was tempted to put it off. 

Jordan said: ‘I nearly talked myself out of it, maybe next year I thought. I never thought I would make so many genuine friends. I’ve made some real special bonds here.’

He also spoke about how he was feeling about coming in second place after such an eventful stint. 

Ever gracious in defeat, Jordan said it was: ‘Absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t be runner up to anyone better, the most genuine kindest person I’ve ever met.’

Elsewhere on the show Jordan was seen facing his fear of snakes and being tasked with earning desserts for the camp’s final meal in the Iron Maiden challenge. 

The radio presenter was locked inside a cage for ten minutes as snakes were lowered in with him, and every two minutes he endured meant he would win a star – the first three for their meals, while the other two could be used for a drink and treat.

While he was in the cage with the slithering creatures, Jordan cried out: ‘Oh god, it’s a snake. Happy place. Happy place! I’m going to be drinking gin with Bev in Spain.’ 

Jordan tried to keep his mind occupied while he completed the trial, and although he was shaking while the snakes slid over him he engaged Ant and Dec in conversation, even asking them to sign his books if he managed to complete the task. 

Despite his fears, Jordan managed to successfully complete the trial, which meant their final dinner was a veritable feast. 

I’m A Celeb fans praised Jordan for his determination during the final trial with many taking to Twitter to say he did very well not only in this, but all his previous tasks.

One person said: ‘Jordan has had such an incredible journey. He has really conquered his fears and really gone the distance especially in the trials.’

While someone else added: ‘After the amount of trials we put him through, Jordan deserves to win!’

Others said they loved the star’s attempt at small talk with Ant and Dec during the Iron Maiden trial, with Jordan asking for their autographs.

‘He was just so relaxed asking them random questions, when he asked them to autograph his book…. that was so funny,’ wrote one viewer. 

After their arduous tasks, Giovanna, Jordan and Vernon all sat down for one last meal together which consisted of their favourite foods after winning all of the stars.

Giovanna was delighted as she tucked into bruschetta, fish and chips, apple crumble with custard, red wine and chocolate for her starter, main meal, and dessert.

While Vernon enjoyed a feast of a prawn cocktail, chicken and sweet potato mash, treacle sponge, a cup of tea and sourdough bread with marmite and cottage cheese.

Jordan was delighted with his meal of a prawn cocktail, corned beef hash, and angel delight for his starter, main and dessert, while he also enjoyed a Guinness and peanut butter cups.
