Lindy Klim credits ex-husband Michael for helping her overcome depression and crippling shyness – as she reflects on their ‘painful’ divorce

They may have split in acrimonious circumstances, but Lindy Klim has only words of praise for her ex-husband Michael. 

Speaking to Sunday Life, the Balinese princess, 42, praised her Olympic swimmer ex for helping her overcome mental health hurdles during their near-decade long marriage, insisting she ‘would be where she is today’ without him. 

Lindy explained that she was suffering from depression from a recent traumatic break-up in 2004, but that all changed when she met Michael three months alter.

‘I was so thin from being depressed from my break-up and was the only one who could fit into this Alex Perry dress,’ she recalled. 

After successfully healed her broken heart, Michael embarked upon a mission to help Lindy strengthen her self-confidence.  

Describing the athlete as ‘driven’, Lindy revealed: ‘[Michael] really took me under his wing; I was painfully shy and without Michael I wouldn’t be where I am today.’

Unfortunately, the high-profile couple’s marriage ended acrimoniously in February 2018, with Lindy describing the ordeal as ‘painful’ and ‘traumatic’.   

The pair have since made made amends for the sake of their three children, daughters Stella, 13, and Frankie, eight, and 11-year-old son Rocco.

‘The relationship Michael and I have is incredible,’ she told Stellar magazine recently.

‘We have been able to come through such a difficult time, and that’s not to say I am going to sugarcoat it.’  

‘We are always going to have difficult moments that come up, but at least we can speak about it as adults and we can just not have the anger behind it anymore.’

Three months after her separation from Michael, Lindy fell into the arms of British property developer Adam Ellis. 

The pair went on to marry in August 2018, a year after they welcomed their first daughter together, Goldie.   

Lindy currently resides in Bali, but shares custody of Stella, Frankie and Rocco with their father Michael, who lives in Australia.
