Aubrey Plaza reveals Kristen Stewart got COVID-19 while filming on the set of Happiest Season

As COVID-19 cases soar all across the country, Aubrey Plaza revealed that Kristen Stewart contracted the virus on the set of their movie Happiest Season.

Plaza, 36, appeared on a video conferencing interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, to promote her new movie Black Bear.

She revealed that, while they were filming Happiest Season in Pittsburgh this past February, Stewart was one of many who caught the virus, though Plaza didn’t get it.

When Colbert mentioned that they filmed the movie in Pittsburgh, ‘just before COVID,’ Plaza revealed the virus did spread through the set.

‘COVID-19 was on our set, Kristen got sick. Well, we didn’t know,’ Plaza said, while Colbert wondered if they were ‘breaking news’ on the show.

Plaza added that, ‘A lot of people got sick. It was the last week of February,’ though she didn’t reveal who else on the cast or crew contracted the deadly virus.

‘It was that zone where people were starting to talk about coronavirus, but people were kind of laughing about it — no one understood how serious it was,’ she said.

The actress added, ‘I think a bunch of people on our set got sick. I didn’t, thank God,’ though she recalled a conversation with one of the transportation drivers.

‘When I was leaving the set and going to the airport, probably on February 29 or something, I said to one of the transpo guys, “Do you think I should be worried about this virus thing? What’s going on?’ she said.

The actress said the transportation guy answered, ‘It’s already here. He was like, “That s–t’s been in Pittsburgh for a long time” and I was like, “Jesus, alright.” Anyway, he was right.’

Colbert also asked Plaza if she had a message to any of the fans out there who though her character Riley should have ended up with Kristen Stewart’s Abby.

‘Look, I wanted it too. I’m not gonna like. I wanted it very badly. But I didn’t write the thing, I didn’t direct the thing, I just showed up, did my job and got outta there. There are some things you just don’t have control over,’ Plaza said.

She added that she’s ‘not giving up hope’ on her character Riley, adding she thinks she has, ‘a bright future ahead.’

Plaza plays a filmmaker in Black Bear, who, while stuck on her latest project, embarks on a creative retreat, though her own demons start to manifest in shocking ways.

The actress stars alongside Sarah Gadon, Christopher Abbott, Lindsay Burdge and Alexander Koch in writer-director Lawrence Michael Levine’s film.
