John Legend brought to tears after his contestant on The Voice dedicates song to Chrissy Teigen and family after tragic pregnancy loss

John Legend got emotional after one of his contestants on The Voice dedicated their performance to the All Of Me crooner and his family.

Singer John Holiday sent his love to Legend, wife Chrissy Teigen and their two kids as they continued to mourn the loss of unborn son Jack, which happened in September.

Reacting to Holiday’s chilling rendition of Coldplay’s Fix You, John said: ‘I mean, I’m over here crying.’

‘When I talked to John about doing this song, I just said it would mean a lot to us if you just give your emotional best performance and let yourself be not perfect, let yourself just live in the emotion of the song. And we felt it,’ the Grammy winner went  on.

Fellow judge Kelly Clarkson was equally as moved by the performance, telling Holiday that the final part of the song ‘broke me in a way that I had to shut off.’

At the virtual press junket after the show, Holiday told People he ‘really did want to sing this for John and Chrissy.’

‘It was a really special moment,’ he said. ‘When you’re performing up there, sometimes you can’t see all that. But when I was listening to [the coaches] talk back to me, it just let me know that I was able to do what I wanted to do, which was to make people feel something.

‘Not because it’s an emotional song, but just to remind people of where we are. People are looking at us on the stage and thinking right now, “They’ve got it all together. Nothing’s wrong.” We’re still in the middle of a pandemic, and for us to be able to be on that stage and have these coaches reacting to our music — I mean, what planet am I on where that can happen for this little boy from Rosenberg, Texas? So I am so grateful for it.’

‘Anytime that I can get them to see me — and I really do mean see me — anytime that I can get someone to see me, hear me and feel me through my music, I know that I am loved,’ he went on.

‘I know that they love what I am doing and they have a connection to that. It was huge affirmation. I have never done this song before publicly, but I’ve done it in private. So it was really beautiful to have that moment of connectedness. We all just want to connect with each other — that’s it.’

John, Chrissy, and family are still reeling from the loss of unborn son Jack in September.

Throughout it all, Teigen and company have been open about their grief.

Chrissy wrote last month on Twitter: ‘I’m not tweeting much because I’m honestly in a bit of a grief depression hole but do not worry as I have so much help around me to get better and I’ll be fixed soon.’

She gave a positive update just a couple days later on Instagram: ‘When I’m old and grey, I will look back on the last two months as being brutal, exhausting, sad, physically challenging, mentally painful b****es of a couple months.

‘But I refuse to not find humor in both the rage-fits and the outfits. I already see the leaves as orange instead of grey, realized the sky is indeed blue and not black and horn honks on my forced morning walks only bring me to my knees half the time.

‘I can make it up my stairs only stopping once or twice instead of every other, and can get out of the bathtub all by myself as long as I have the promise john will dry me off. anyhow the point is, f***, I think it’s happening.’
