Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino falls behind on court ordered community service

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino was ordered by a judge to complete 500 hours of community service as part of his tax evasion sentence in 2018.

And, according to court documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, the Jersey Shore star, 38, has only completed a total of 18 hours, since being released from federal prison in September of 2019.

Sorrentino is now being issued a ‘written warning’ as a result of his probation officer reporting his lack of due diligence to the judge.

As per the documents, the probation officer claimed that she had ‘continually talked to Mike about where to volunteer in his community.’

She encouraged Sorrentino to lend his time to Toys for Tots or, if he wanted to stay closer to home, he could also help out his church and/or several food banks.

Mike’s probation officer even alleged that the reality star was scheduled to put in some volunteer time in the month of August, but that he ‘failed to attend due to COVID-19 concerns.’

Noting the pandemic as a possible concern for Sorrentino, the probation officer went out of her way to remind Mike ‘at nearly every interaction to find a venue for community service, including service that could be performed from home.’

But, despite her best efforts to get through to Sorrentino, she claimed that he made ‘no effort’ to choose a community service avenue and stick with it.

With a written warning coming his way, Mike may finally find the motivation he lacked to complete the 500 hours.

The Situation and his older brother Marc were indicted in April of 2017 and charged with ‘tax evasion, structuring and falsifying records,’ according to the United States Department Of Justice

Mike and Marc both plead guilty in January of 2018, with the Jersey Shore star specifically pleading guilty to ‘one count of tax evasion.’

As for Marc, he plead guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return,

‘Sorrentino and his brother [Marc] created businesses to exploit the reality star’s celebrity status and did not pay the required income tax on the $8.9 million Sorrentino earned between 2010 and 2012,’ NBC reported at the time.

As per an October sentencing hearing, Mike was ordered to serve eight-months in federal prison, as well as two years of ‘supervised release,’ 500 hours of community service, and he was forced to pay a $10,000 fine.
