North Hollywood trailer starring Miranda Cosgrove teases the first movie about being a pro skater

Take a glimpse into the life of a professional skater in the first trailer for North Hollywood from executive producer Pharrell Williams.

Miranda Cosgrove, Vince Vaughn and Ryder McLaughlin (mid90s) star in this comedy from upstart studio Illegal Civ, dubbed as ‘the first teen movie studio.’

The film gives fans a glimpse into what it takes to become a professional skateboarder, marking the feature film debut of Mikey Alfred.

The trailer opens on a modest home, with a father (Vaughn) yelling at his kid Michael (McLaughlin) about wearing a sweater with shorts, which the father claims, ‘doesn’t make any sense.’

At school, Jay (Nico Haraga) tries to get Mike to do a trick, while we see them both, along with serving as church acolytes.

At home, Michael tells his father that he’s ‘nice on the board,’ as his dad wonders how he started talking that way, but back at school, Michael’s friends yells at a security guard (Workaholics’ Blake Anderson) to get out of the way.

Michael ultimately tells his father that he will go to college, ‘but I’m also gonna skate,’ though the father insists, ‘your focus is gonna be on college.’

Michael is also on the water polo team, though he gets into a fight in the pool with one of his teammates and loses… badly.

Back at home, dad says the shiner ‘looks serious,’ though Mike insists he will ‘beat that kid’s a**,’ though we see just how badly his face had been beaten.

As Mike terribly imitates shadow boxing, his dad asks sternly, ‘Is that how you fight?’ before Mike runs into Rachel (Cosgrove).

He tells her he quit water polo to focus on becoming a pro skateboarder, which she thinks is ‘cool.’

Another scene shows Mike’s father teach him how to box, but later when he says he needs ‘structure,’ Mike says, ‘that’s trash,’ which his father is not a fan of.

The trailer winds down with a number of random shots, including Mike’s father shaving his head and Jay and Mike running away from mall cops.

Walker (Euphoria’s Angus Cloud) tells Mike that, most people who, ‘try to go pro end up working at a skate shop or some s**t.’

Mike is seen getting into another fight, with the final shot of the trailer showing Mike, covering his bald head with a red cap, walking through a junkyard, quite determined.

A title card also reveals this is, ‘the first movie about becoming a pro skater,’ which is coming soon, though no release date was given.
