Twang: She is one of Australia’s most best known acting exports. But in an interview with Sunrise on Friday, Rachel Griffiths surprised viewers when she spoke with a strong American twang

She seemingly tried to stop herself from over rolling R-sounding words as she said: ‘The Wilds is probably one of the top five pilots I’ve ever read, three of which I didn’t get – so this is one of two I did.’

The Golden Globe winner, who lived in the US for years before relocating back to Melbourne in 2012, lamented about having to leave her family to film the series in New Zealand.

She emphasised her Aussie accent, saying: ‘I have to leave my family to work, so it’s a terrible double bind, in order to do.’
