‘Our body doesn’t produce them naturally, so you have to get them through food and this has something I’ve become more mindful of as I’ve gotten older.’

The former Bachelor star also explained it’s important to always stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

‘If you think of food as the fuel, then water is the oil that your body (engine) needs to run efficiently. If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated.’

Sam went on to say it’s beneficial to have healthy meal options prepared in advance as it ‘makes it a lot easier to stick to your healthy eating throughout the week’.

‘When planning your meals you should prioritise good quality protein and good fats,’ he said.

‘The body digests protein slower than carbs or fat which keeps you fuller for longer. Good fats are great for your brain function and mood and promote satiety and keep you full which can prevent overeating and unnecessary snacking.’
