Amy MacDonald cuts a stylish figure in a glittery top and jeans as she performs in Germany

She shot to fame after the release of her hit album This Is The Life back in 2007 but mostly keeps out of the limelight.

However Amy MacDonald took to the stage to support a good cause on Thursday as she rocked the 26th annual Jose Carreras Gala in Leipzig, Germany.

The Scottish singer, 33, looked sensational as she cut a stylish figure in a glittery top for the event which raised €3.6m for the fight against leukaemia.

Amy exuded confidence as she performed during the evening which was aired on German TV and different from previous years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer, who recently released her fifth studio album The Human Demands, made sure to command attention in a sparkling long-sleeve top. 

She completed her chic look with a pair of black skinny jeans and wore her brunette locks down and slightly curled.

Not forgetting the details, Amy added a slick of shimmering eyeshadow and a touch of lipstick to accentuate her features.

Speaking about taking part in the gala, Amy said: ‘I’m really looking forward to coming back to Germany to present my new single Fire. But most of all, I feel honoured to be part of such a fantastic evening. 

‘José Carreras is such an inspiring man, and the evening is for such an important cause. I therefore hope that we will collect a lot of money in order to save as many lives as possible.’

Amy recently spoke with Official Charts about her fifth album, revealing that if ‘felt great’ to be working with a new label for the release.

She said: ‘The fifth album felt great. I signed a new record contract with a different label. I’d been on the same label since the start of my career, I signed that deal when I was 18.’

‘It gave me that feeling I had right in the beginning with my first album. It all felt so fresh and different to me. With this album, I wrote some of the best songs I think I’ve ever written.

Amy also reflected on fame in a 2017 interview with The Daily Mail where she revealed she liked not being recognised when she went out in public.

The star said: ‘How lucky am I to be able to actually have normality? I can hang out with my mates in a bar, go on holiday with my friends and have a laugh. People know my music but they don’t know me. Life is good.’

She also reflected on how when she started out her weight was an issue for some in the music industry.

Amy said: ‘I could tell when I first started having sessions with stylists that my size was an issue. No one outright told me to lose weight but I knew it was a problem. 

‘I started to lose weight when I began touring. It’s exhausting. At first you are tempted to eat and drink rubbish but you get more tired. 

‘I realised I actually had to be fit to do this job. I started exercising. I felt better, my voice sounded better and the weight just went.’ 

Amy’s albums include The Human Demands, Under Stars, Life In A Beautiful Light, A Curious Thing and her breakout record This Is The Life.

She is married to former Rangers footballer Ricky Foster, 35, with the pair tying the knot in 2018.
