The Biggest Loser star Ajay Rochester flees Los Angeles for Australia

The Biggest Loser star Ajay Rochester flees Los Angeles for Australia after 10 months of being locked up ‘like a self-imposed prisoner’ in her apartment

She relocated to the United States for a fresh start in 2009.

But after a decade of living in Los Angeles, former Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester has moved back to Australia.

The 51-year-old flew into Sydney last week and has since completed her 14 days of mandatory hotel quarantine.

She’s back! A decade on from relocating from Australia to the United States for a fresh start, former The Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester (pictured on the show), 51, is back after spending 10 months locked up in her apartment in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic

She told The Daily Telegraph on Monday that she returned to Australia because she was sick of the lockdown in LA.

‘I spent 10 months in my apartment locked up, like a self-imposed prisoner terrified of this virus while millions of others go about going what they want and it just spiraled out of control,’ she said.

‘I just knew I had to go. I had this gut feeling. People here don’t realise how lucky they have it.’

Leaving her life in America behind wasn’t easy for Ajay, who had to deal with a lot of bureaucracy before being permitted to fly out of the country.

It took her three months to find a way home due to tough Covid-19 restrictions.

‘I got home in the end so I’m one of the lucky ones as there are so many who haven’t been as fortunate,’ said the mother of one.

Ajay relocated to the U.S. in 2010, after pleading guilty to welfare fraud the previous year.

She has a son, Kai, 21, who has Asperger’s Syndrome.

Her most recent TV appearance was on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2019, but she now mostly works behind the scenes as a casting agent.
