The resident is seen walking the rodents with long strings attached to their mouths as leashes at a bustling market in southern China‘s Guangdong Province.

It is believed that the man was a vendor who was using the animals to promote his rat traps after similar scenes had been spotted in China before.

The bizarre moment was captured by an onlooker yesterday at the Shaxi Central Market in the city of Zhongshan.

The man is seen walking through a bustling street while holding two strings attached to the rats like dog leads.

The rodents appeared to have their mouths tied by small silver hooks which were linked to the wires.

One of the rats curiously sniffed around while the other one seemed lifeless as it was dragged along the road without any movement.

Most of the market-goers appeared to be unfazed by the scene while some were stunned by the strange scene.

The bizarre moment was captured by an onlooker yesterday at the Shaxi Central Market in the city of Zhongshan, Guangdong Province of southern China, according to a Douyin user

The clip was shared by the onlooker on the Chinese TikTok-like Douyin, without explaining what the man was doing.

It is believed that the ‘leash’ was a type of rat trap and the man in the video was a market vendor who was using the rats to promote his products.
