  • Many were touched by comment, with one branding it ‘the spirit of humanity’

A Marks and Spencer slipper review has left shoppers in tears after a man who lost his leg has offered to donate his other slipper for free.

The shopper, from the UK, who purchased the £19.50 pair of Freshfeet comfy item online, explained how he lost his right leg, so is only ever going to wear one – before offering to give away the other slipper for anyone else who might have also lost a leg.

Giving the product a five-star review, he penned: ‘5 years ago I lost my right leg so I never wear the right slipper. So if you are missing a left and take a size 8 slipper and need a right slipper I am allowing M & S to give you my email address and you can have one for free, just contact me…’

Writer Jayne Sharp, from the UK, took to Twitter and told how she came across the touching review while searching for a gift for her dad and penned: ‘Just looking at slippers for dad for Christmas & came across this review on Marks and Spencer’s website. I think I’ve got something in my eye.’

And it turns out she wasn’t the only one to get emotional after reading the touching review.

‘Not just the spirit of Christmas, that’s the spirit of humanity. Somehow the smallest of gestures make the most impact. Who ever you are, you have my utmost respect,’ wrote one, while a second commented:

‘ohhhh!!! I’m not crying… put away those onions,’ while a third tried to fight back the tears and wrote: ‘I have hayfever.’

A fourth commented: ‘Oh my Christmas goodness,’ while a further added: ‘I love this! And now have an idea for a website that will match people to one slipper/shoe/sock/glove, according to what limb they may be missing.’
