He’s never shied away from expressing his outspoken views.

But Piers Morgan‘s latest raging rant was in good humour on Wednesday, as he mocked Tom Cruise’s reported rant towards crew on the Mission Impossible set.

Following reports that Tom had launched into a furious rant at workers on the London set after noticing they weren’t adhering to COVID-19 safety rules, Piers decided to give the GMB crew a dressing down of their own.

Poking fun at the outburst, Piers shouted: ‘Don’t ever do that again! I’m going to fire you! All right?’

Unfazed by his behaviour, co-host Susanna Reid joked: ‘The language he used in the break was far worse but don’t worry, my phone was recording.’

Calming himself, Piers pretended to have been caught unawares as the show had just returned from an ad break.

He said: ‘Sorry, that was so awkward. I was just giving the troops a bit of a morale booster. Right guys? We’re all friends? All good?’

Turning towards the GMB crew, he added: ‘I reckon one of his lot would chin me, Darren definitely would. He wouldn’t even hesitate.’

On Tuesday night it was reported that Tom had given two crew members an X-rated dressing down after he caught them breaking UK Covid rules on set.

The Hollywood superstar is said to have scolded workers who flouted social distancing rules while filming at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Herts.

Invoking the no-nonsense attitude of his spy character, Ethan Hunt, the actor told them: ‘If I see you doing it again, you’re f***ing gone,’ according to the Sun.

The paper says the dressing down was recorded on an audio tape, in which he is heard to add: ‘And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too.

‘And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again. We are not shutting this f***ing movie down.’

The American actor was reportedly angered after seeing crew stood less than a metre away from each other at a computer screen.

Filming for Mission Impossible 7 has faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and production relocated to the UK at the beginning of the month after completing its filming schedule in Italy and Norway.
