George Clooney reveals that he tricks his kids into believing they’re talking to Santa Claus

George Clooney has long had a reputation for being a prankster on the set of his movies, which has seemingly carried over into his parenting style.

The 59-year-old actor did a virtual interview for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday, where he was promoting his new Netflix film The Midnight Sky.

With Christmas just around the corner, Clooney revealed the minor prank he pulled on his kids, in an effort to get them to behave during Christmas.

Clooney did the interview from his home in London, and joked that he was trying to stop his kids from completely assimilating as Brits, joking that his kids, three-year-old twins Alexander and Ella wanted to leave out milk and mince pie for Santa, instead of milk and cookies.

He also revealed that he ‘devised a way’ to keep his kids, who he shares with wife Amal Clooney, in line over the hectic holiday season

‘At three years old, you’re just trying to keep your kids in line in general so I devised a way to get them to behave during this time,’ Clooney said.

‘When they’re asleep in the morning — they sleep in the same bedroom — they start to make noises and you can hear the two of them getting at each other, and I stand outside the door and I go “Oh hi Santa!” and then you hear Santa is there and he’s like “Ho ho ho,”‘ Clooney said with his best jolly St. Nick impression.

‘And I say, ‘What are you doing here Santa?’ and he says, ‘Oh, I’m just making sure that the kids are being good kids.’”

“And you can hear them going, “We are Santa! We are!” Then he leaves and they come out and they’re unbelievably well behaved,’ he added.

While the trick has worked wonders over the holidays, he’s already trying to figure out how to adapt it to Easter time.

‘I’m worried about the Easter bunny, because I’m not quite sure what he sounds like,’ Clooney joked.

Clooney added that he was in London because there was supposed to be a ‘drive-in premiere’ of his movie The Midnight Sky.
