Lisa Wilkinson gets abruptly shut down during her brief interview with actress Kristen Wiig on The Project

Lisa Wilkinson found her interview with Kristen Wiig during Monday’s episode of The Project abruptly shut down.

The 61-year-old TV host was talking to the Hollywood actress about her role in the new blockbuster, Wonder Woman 1984, when she was interrupted by a publicist.

Kristen, 47, was in the middle of answering one of Lisa’s questions when a woman’s voice interrupted and said: ‘That’s all the time we have, Lisa. Thank you.’

While Lisa good-naturedly laughed off the interruption, Kristen appeared momentarily shocked and seemed apologetic.

Lisa had asked Kristen if she could relate to her character, Barbara/Cheetah, who initially appears awkward and slightly dorky in the film.

‘Yes’, was all Kristen managed to respond with, before the publicist ended the brief interview.

She then added: ‘Well, you got the “yes” in there!’

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald’s Sunday Life earlier this month, Kristen insisted that Cheetah, who turns out to be the film’s villain, was really just misunderstood.

‘She knows that when she walks into a room, no one’s going to even notice her. And she’s always wanted to be the cool girl, or noticed, or popular, or anything other than who she is,’ she explained.

‘And it’s doubly sad because Diana even brings out the fact that Barbara is really loving and open and funny and free and honest.

‘[But] she just doesn’t see that, she’s so focused on what she’s not and seeing all these other beautiful, amazing women who can have conversations with men and have female friends, and [knowing] she’s just not that person.’

Kristen said she developed a close rapport with Gal Gadot, who plays Diana/ Wonder Woman, and confessed their fight scenes would often end in laughter.
