Rihanna films social media video with a stunned fan as they cross paths at a ‘random gas station’ in Barbados… days after singer returned home for Christmas

Rihanna left a delighted fan speechless on Monday after they crossed paths at a ramshackle gas station in her native Barbados.

The singer, who was born and raised in the Caribbean island’s parish of Saint Michael, returned home on December 16th to spend the Christmas period with her family.

But she found time to indulge the stunned fan by pausing to film a short social media video after he immediately spotted her – despite the singer wearing a protective face covering.

Chance meeting: Rihanna left a delighted fan speechless on Monday after they crossed paths at a ramshackle gas station in her native Barbados

With her hair loose and messy and her features apparently make-up free, Rihanna, 32, was barely recognisable while explaining the circumstances surrounding the video.

Addressing the camera, she said: ‘At a random gas station, we’re not even buying gas. We’re not even driving.’

Evidently star-struck, the fan – a young man in his 20s – prompted laughter from the singer by admitting: ‘My Christmas just got made merry.’

In 2008, Barbados began celebrating Rihanna Day annually, and she was given her honorary ambassador title a decade later.

In her role she encourages foreign investments in Barbados while helping to attract tourists to the picturesque Caribbean island.

Seemingly missing from Rihanna’s travels was her new boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky.

Admission: 'At a random gas station, we’re not even buying gas. We’re not even driving,' she said while addressing the camera

After they were spotted on a romantic stroll in New York City earlier this month, a source told People that she was ‘very happy’ in the relationship.

‘They’ve been inseparable the past few weeks. It’s a new relationship, but they both seem very into it,’ the insider continued, adding that they ‘have a lot in common.’

The two have long been friends, and have also forged a professional relationship.

Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, previously opened for the US leg of her Diamonds World Tour in 2013, and he was featured on her track Cockiness.
