Celine Dion raves about the ‘amazing’ Sam Smith after they gush over her music

After Sam Smith praised Celine Dion’s iconic song It’s All Coming Back to Me Now as one of his favorite vocal performances, Dion offered some praise right back.

Smith, 28, opened up about the 1996 song by Dion, 52, in an interview with Pitchfork on Tuesday, where he described the song as ‘outrageous.’

Dion took to Twitter just hours later, gushing over them as well in a heartfelt tweet about the British singer.

During the interview, Smith described Dion’s rendition of the song as ‘so dramatic’ adding that ‘the vocal performance is out of this world.’

They added that her voice has a ‘tone and a sharpness that just cuts right through you,’ adding you can, ‘hear her personality when she sings.’

Smith said that the ‘basis’ for all of their music knowledge was singers like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Chaka Khan, ‘women who would stand in the middle of a stage and sing and do nothing but sing.’

Smith added that the ‘seven-minute version’ of the song is the best one, before Dion would return the numerous compliments on Twitter just hours after the interview was posted by Pitchfork.

‘Aww, thank you so much @samssmith,’ Dion began her heartfelt post, before recalling their last meeting.

‘It was great to see you last year in London, and forget about me – I think you’re so amazing!! Take care … hope to see you again soon. Celine xx…’ she concluded.

Smith previously gushed about Dion last November, after they wrote For The Lover That I Lost for her new album.

‘Truly honoured to have written ‘For The Love That I Lost’ for the new @celinedion record, with the incredible @jimmynapes & @stargatemusic. Celine, you are my everything and you are the reason I even sang in the first place. All hail the queen, the legend and the icon x,’ they said.

Smith, who announced in 2019 they are non-binary and use they/them pronouns, recently opened up about the trauma he faced after making that announcement.

‘I honestly, I can’t express to enough people how much courage it’s taken. I wasn’t prepared for the amount of ridicule and bullying, really, that I’ve experienced,’ they said.

‘I mean, honestly, the comments and the types of things that I have to answer and walk through every day is very, very intense,’ they added.
