WHAT TO DO

For smooth, show-off shoulders, try a ‘high plank aeroplane’ exercise, says personal trainer Nadya Fairweather (u-shape.co.uk).

Start in a high plank position, feet together, shoulders over wrists, core engaged, bottom tight.

Now lift your right hand up high until you are sideways. Bring back down and do the same lifting the left hand. Keep alternating left to right keeping the body straight and strong without letting your bottom stick out as you shift balance. Try three to five sets of 30 seconds work with 30 seconds rest.

WHAT TO EAT

According to top nutritionist Amanda Hamilton (amandahamilton.com), a good diet can be an aid to fitness.

Consuming protein helps build muscle. If your diet is already rich in high-quality protein you will not need protein powders. However, if you are tempted to try them, avoid those with emulsifiers, sugars and artificial additives, if possible.

There’s no escaping the fact that to achieve muscle definition you have to lower body fat levels. We know the most moreish food combination is when sugar and fat combine — think doughnuts, chocolates or cake. If you need a sweet fix, aim for dark chocolate with a high cacao content which contains beneficial minerals zinc and magnesium.
