Then the camera panned to a mannequin wearing a dress as the alien declared that her job in the world is ‘to spread joy love and glitter’.

Some fans thought this was a reference to her disco tracks including Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor.

One viewer said: ‘100 percent Alien is #sophieellisbaxter. Her voice is too distinctive to disguise!#MaskedSinger.’

Another fan penned on Twitter: ‘Alien is Sophie Ellis Bextor! Murder on the dance floor reference too!’

Fellow panellist Mo Gilligan was taken by a wedding dress reference on a mannequin in the clip and presumed it could be Lily Allen, who recently tied the knot with Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

Davina amusingly thought it could be presenter Joel Dommett’s partner, Hannah Cooper.
