Ashley James looked radiant as ever as she displayed her growing baby bump in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

The media personality, 33, told how she has tried to ‘switch off’ this Christmas and stay in a ‘positive bubble’ with her boyfriend Tommy Andrews.

The former Made In Chelsea star and her other half enjoyed a romantic stroll through the capital which is quieter than ever amid current Tier 4 restrictions.

Ashley, who is days away from her January due date, looked sensational in the snaps as she donned a dark green coat which she wore over a tan turtle neck jumper.

Cradling her bump, the influencer also sported black leather leggings and a matching pair of boots.

Alongside her post, Ashley wrote: ‘My word of the year is definitely perinium, as it’s something I’d never heard of until pregnancy…

‘And I don’t know about you guys, but this time of year definitely feels like the perinium. Not quite Christmas, not quite New Year.

‘I think this year feels particularly weird, what with the restrictions and what with being heavily pregnant and waiting for the baby to arrive…

‘I’ve always struggled with switching off and not being productive (it’s something I used to pride myself on as I saw productivity being a sign of success, but now I realise was high functioning anxiety), but I’ve really tried to switch off this Christmas.

‘We’ve watched films and series (I fully recommend Soul, Industry, and the Nest) and went on long dog walks… But it definitely felt a little like Groundhog Day.

‘So anyway, today we decided to dress up and switched up our route to walk through a very empty London.

‘There’s something very magical about London being so quiet, like we have the city to ourselves. We’ve avoided the news and are just staying in our positive little bubble.

‘Now I’m back on the sofa watching the Nest with Snoop spooning my bump as the baby kicks. Hope you’re all enjoying this perinium part of the year. ❤️’

It comes after Ashley revealed she thought she was going into labour on Boxing Day as she shared a candid video on her Instagram stories on Monday.

The reality TV star admitted she had all her bags ready to take to hospital as she was convinced that she was about to give birth – but her baby boy wasn’t ready for his big arrival.

She explained she has been feeling very impatient for the arrival of her first child and is finding it hard to ‘think about anything else’ as her due date is just days away.

The expectant mother also described waiting for her bundle of joy as a ‘weird’ time as she admitted that she is ‘so sure’ that she is going into labour ‘every day’.

Taking to Instagram, she explained: ‘I feel like this is obviously such a weird time of year anyway like in “normal life” between Christmas and New Year, but obviously with 2020 it’s even weirder and then waiting for the baby to come is even weirder!

‘Like I just feel like I’m in this groundhog day, weird place. And look we’ve got all the bags by the door here, and then we’ve got like the car seat and the pillow here cos we were so sure it was happening on Boxing Day.

‘So every day we are like “it’s going to be today” and it’s not! So I’m probably being quite quiet on here but I’m just in this weird like mental place of waiting.

‘It’s just hard to think about anything else really.’

Ashley also shed light on her Boxing Day labour false alarm in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday alongside a glamorous snap of herself in her pyjamas.

The pregnant star looked cosy in green pyjamas with leopards on and pink slipper socks as she was surrounded by an array of parenting books – which she honestly admitted that she hasn’t read.

In a detailed caption, Ashley revealed that at around 9pm on Boxing Day she thought she was going into labour, so she put all her bags and a car seat by their front door.

She said that she and Tommy went to bed hoping to get some rest, before explaining that her son was not ‘quite ready to make his big arrival’ as she is still left waiting.

The impatient star excitedly added that she is ‘so ready’ to welcome her baby boy into the world following her latest labour false alarm.

Ashley also revealed that she does not have a birth plan as the thought of planning for something you’ve ‘never done’ or could ‘go wrong’ ‘blows’ her mind.

She candidly penned: ‘My (lack of) birth plan.

‘I’ve been hearing about birth plans from the moment I found out I was pregnant, and I always wondered if nearer the time I’d suddenly realise that I needed or wanted one.

‘But to be honest, it still kinda blows my mind that you could plan something that you’ve either never done before, or could go ‘wrong’.

‘Last night, around 9pm, we actually thought it *might* be happening… So as we put all the bags and car seat at the door we decided to do what any responsible parents-to-be would do… And went to bed hoping we’d get some sleep.

‘Turns out he’s not quite ready to make his big arrival just yet. But, it did make me think today about if I’m ready and what else I need to do.’

The mother-to-be also admitted that she hasn’t read any of the parenting books that she bought during her pregnancy.

She revealed that she does not think reading about ‘someone else’s experience’ would help her ‘feel prepared’ for her own ‘unique’ journey.

But she was quick to add that her boyfriend Tommy did read a few of the informative books and found them ’empowering’.

She continued: ‘I get asked about books and birth plans a lot so thought I’d touch on it here.

‘I bought or was given loads of books, and always thought I’d feel more inclined to read them nearer the time, but at 39 weeks I still haven’t read any (I did start the Science of Parenting which is pretty good).

‘I feel like it’s similar to going travelling or running a marathon… I don’t need to read about someone else’s experience to feel prepared for my own journey – it’s going to be unique to me anyway.

‘That said, Tommy has read a few and I know they empowered him.’

But Ashley did detail an array of activities that she has done to prepare for motherhood, including a day’s antenatal class, a hypnobirthing class and booking a lactation consultant.

Reaching out to other expectant mothers, the star urged them to ‘do what empowers’ them most as there is ‘no right or wrong way’ to enter parenthood.

She concluded: ‘So with my ‘birth plan’, I really don’t have one as I’m prepared that anything can happen. But I’m educated around the different options, and I’ve made decisions around the Vitamin K injection and my placenta (I’m using @placentaplus).

‘So I suppose what I’m saying is, do what empowers you. There’s no right or wrong way to do any of it.

‘Avoid the things that add fear, and do more of the things that empower you. Just know that things don’t always go to ‘plan’. I’m so ready.’

Ashley had her first labour false alarm at the beginning of December, describing it as like someone was ‘punching my vagina from the inside’.

The presenter told her 279,000 Instagram followers at the time: ‘Morning guys, oh my gosh I am so tired today. I like got up, got ready, tried to do some work and now I am just lying in the baby’s room.

‘I actually thought I might be going into labour last night. I could like feel – it almost felt like someone punching my vagina from like inside.

That sounds really weird, so I was like “is this it?”. So I went to bed really early cos I was like “oh my god, if I am going to give birth I want to be well rested”.

‘Um but it wasn’t, false alarm. But I am exactly a month away now, so I am definitely starting to feel it.’

This month, she also celebrated her year anniversary with her boyfriend, quipping that she ‘didn’t like men too much’ when they met due to bad dating experiences.

But she credited her ‘independence’ for helping her finally form a toxic-free romance with her beau.

She penned: ‘To be honest, I didn’t know if I was “too independent”, and I always found it hard to connect with someone because I grew up in so many different backgrounds I never quite felt like I fit in to any.

‘I definitely didn’t know if I’d meet someone with good values and morals as my experiences had tainted my views.

‘But I did. I met someone as independent as me, with the same sense of adventure, (a lot more patience)… and whilst it’s been one hell of a year, it’s never felt too rushed or like I’ve lost myself.

‘I’m still the same Ashley as I was single, I’ve never had to compromise my friends, hobbies, or interests to be in this relationship, and I’ve gained such an amazing family.

‘Being single for 6 years taught me so much about my self, allowed me to work on areas I needed to in myself (and learn a lot of lessons about myself), and gave me the power and knowledge to know that life is perfectly wonderful alone.’

She concluded: ‘This definitely led me to this healthy and lovely relationship. It may have taken me to 32 to meet someone, but I’d have waited another decade to meet this guy.’
