Michelle Keegan is sick of being asked ‘why haven’t you had a child?’

Michelle Keegan has expressed her annoyance at always being asked ‘why haven’t you had a child yet?’

The actress, 33, spoke to Women’s Health‘s latest issue, and talked about the double-standards that come with being part of a celebrity couple, and why she keeps her marriage to husband Mark Wright private.

Alongside the chat, Michelle posed for a series of incredible snaps as she showcased her showstopping abs and hard-worked figure in all its glory.

Sick of it! Michelle Keegan has expressed her annoyance at always being asked ‘why haven’t you had a child yet?’

‘I do think it’s different for a woman. It shouldn’t be, but it is,’ she told the publication. ‘I get asked about children whereas Mark wouldn’t, for example.

‘Why haven’t I had a child? When am I going to have a child? I don’t know what they want me to say. I don’t know what the right or wrong answer is.’

On why she refrains from posting content of her and Mark together on social media, she explained: ‘A lot of things in my life are out of my control, but one thing I do have control over is my social media and I like to try and keep some memories private…

‘Over the years we’ve opened ourselves up to a lot of criticism, so it’s nice to have something just for us. I don’t want to feed the stories anymore…

‘Turning 30 really changed my perspective on things – I’ve grown as a person and I’m a lot more confident now.’

Mark, 33, married Michelle in 2015, but the pair have shown no hints of wanting to start a family anytime soon.

Mark has a fitness brand, and hosts a radio show, while Michelle’s career has been on an incline since leaving Coronation Street, starring in dramas such as Our Girl and Brassic.

On being overwhelmed during her first day on the job for military drama Our Girl, Michelle said: ‘This role was always so important to me. Leaving Corrie, I wanted to prove to everyone that had ever doubted me that I could be versatile.

She said: 'I do think it's different for a woman. It shouldn't be, but it is. I get asked about children whereas Mark wouldn't, for example'

‘It was my chance to strip back and focus on doing the best job I could. I didn’t think I’d be able to live up to the role. I wanted to make everyone proud and do justice to the role.

‘The first day was very overwhelming. There was so much training not just the military side but the medical side too and I wanted to get it right… there was so much information to digest before the acting came into play.

‘But that role moulded me into the person I am today and because of it I’m so much more confident and independent. I will always be proud of [her character] Georgie.’

Michelle last appeared in a Women’s Health shoot three years ago – and admitted that she feels ‘happier now in myself than I did then’ of her latest cover shoot.

‘I’d just got back from filming in Malaysia… my energy had taken a hit by one million per cent. Whereas this shoot, I absolutely loved it, I felt really confident – really good,’ she said, comparing the two experiences.

Asked whether she’ll ever do something fitness-based as a side-project, Michelle went on: ‘A few years ago, I would have said no. A workout is such a personal thing – it’s you and your body – and I think I’m always going to have that self-conscious feeling.

‘But I love how the gym makes me feel. Every time I post something fitness-wise, a lot of people comment and ask what I do. So, I’ll never say never. Because fitness and eating healthily is my lifestyle now.’

Yet she fully admits she wasn’t a sporty student at school.

‘I hated PE at school. I’d pretend I’d forgotten my kit because I used to get so embarrassed about always coming last in things,’ she recalled. ‘In netball, no one threw me the ball because they knew I couldn’t catch it.’
