COMFORT WEAR UPGRADE

Cold , grey January always calls for comfort and never more so than during lockdown three. According to John Lewis, sales of loungewear increased by a whopping 1,303 per cent in 2020, as stay-at-home styles dominated fashion.

Opting for elasticated waistbands doesn’t have to mean letting it all go, however. This jumpsuit by Me+Em is a more glamorous approach to dressing down that achieves both comfort and a more ‘put together’ feel. It’s perfect for juggling homeschooling with home-working now that multi-tasking is the order of the day.

ZIP AND GO

Jumpsuits have become one of the most versatile wardrobe options. And as you never need to worry about what to wear with them (other than adding a T-shirt underneath or a jacket on top if it’s cold), they are the easy solution to quick, one-step dressing.

CASUAL ELEGANCE

To elevate your jumpsuit out of the ordinary, focus on detailing. Look for zips to adjust the neckline, belts to define your waist (even if it’s still elasticated underneath) and touches of luxe fabrics for a high-end finish. Silk pockets in the same tone give a subtle nod to smart, without detracting from the easy confidence of the overall look.

AVOID BLACK

Choose wisely: head-to-toe black is a classic look but seems a touch bleak for the world we’re living in right now. If you still want to stick with a neutral, opt for khaki instead.

It’s flattering on most skin tones and works well teamed with other basic neutrals. Charcoal and navy have a similar effect. While the rest of your wardrobe may be on furlough, right now functional fashion is where it’s at.
