Prime Minister takes son Wilf out for a walk in his buggy around Buckingham Palace Gardens

The Prime Minister enjoyed a Sunday stroll with eight-month-old son Wilf in central London today – just days after he faced questions about a rule-breaking cycle ride in the capital’s Olympic Park.

Boris Johnson was seen cradling young Wilf, who was born on April 29th 2020 at the height of the first Covid crisis in the UK, as they set out on a weekend walk believed to be in Buckingham Palace Gardens, close to the family’s home in Downing Street.

Wearing a bright red woolly hat adorned with the Welsh flag, the 56-year-old PM coordinated with his young son, who was wearing a coat in a similar eye-catching shade.

After the PM faced criticism last week for cycling in the Olympic Park, Mr Johnson had clearly made the decision to keep this outing a little closer to home. The Prime Minster is seen holding his eight-month-old son ahead of transferring him to the buggy

And they're off, the PM didn't wear a coat despite the inclement January weather as he pushed Wilf, who was born at the height of the Covid crisis in April, on Sunday morning. His untucked white shirt had a stain on the back of it

Proving the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, Wilf’s already trademark blonde locks were on display as he was seen being carried from the Prime Minster’s car into his buggy.

Perhaps showing he’s also following in his father’s footsteps when it comes to sartorial style, the youngster had on odd socks, with one plain sock and one stripey.

The PM didn’t wear a coat despite the inclement January weather as he pushed Wilf along in his buggy wearing navy blue chinos, a navy jumper and a white shirt, which had a stain on the back of it.

There was no sign of Mr Johnson’s 32-year-old partner Carrie Symonds on the walk.

Photos of baby Wilf in the public eye have been rare but in each one published by the PM and his partner, the couple’s son has been seen with a striking mop of blonde hair.

Last week, Mr Johnson faced criticism after he was seen cycling in the Olympic Park. some seven miles away from Downing Street last week.

A source told the Evening Standard that Mr Johnson was exercising, accompanied by his security detail.

However, official Government guidance says exercise should be limited to once a day and ‘you should not travel outside your local area’.

A source told the Standard the PM was exercising, adding: ‘But he did note how busy the park was and he commented on it at the meeting last night.

‘He was concerned about if people were following the rules and was concerned after his cycle ride around the park.’

The PM’s spokesman was unable to give any information today on why Mr Johnson had gone to Stratford and why it was within the rules.

It emerged this weekend that a television company is planning to feature Boris Johnson’s love child in a drama about his first year in Downing Street.

Producers say the drama, This Sceptred Isle, will document how the Prime Minister has dealt with the pandemic, his own health battle with Covid-19 and the birth of his son Wilfred.

But in a highly controversial move which is likely to infuriate No 10, it is also set to feature Stephanie, his 11-year-old daughter by former mistress Helen Macintyre.

Produced by the TV firm Freemantle, the drama is being co-written and directed by Michael Winterbottom, a staunch Labour supporter, while Desmond Hamilton Casting, which finds actors for Freemantle, is seeking an actor to play Stephanie.
