Sylvia Jeffreys guns for A Current Affair hosting gig when Tracy Grimshaw steps down

‘She wants the plum role at ACA’: Rumors run rife that Sylvia Jeffreys is gunning for the A Current Affair hosting gig when Tracy Grimshaw steps down

She’s been tipped as the favourite to host A Current Affair when Tracey Grimshaw decides to leave.

And on Monday, an insider confirmed pregnant Sylvia Jeffreys, who is expecting her second child with Peter Stefanovic in April, ‘will never consider going back to the Today’ show because of the early hours.

‘Sylvia will never consider going back to Today – she’s a mum now and those early mornings are not even up for consideration,’ the source told Woman’s Day.

‘She’s made it clear she wants the plum role at ACA.’

The insider added that the Nine Network were trying to get Tracey, 60, to do ‘more specialised reporting’ instead.

‘They’ve made no secret they want Sylvia in that chair – she’s young, fresh, popular and well respected,’ the source added.

The 34-year-old is currently hosting Today Extra alongside David Campbell.

And she returned to work at Channel Nine’s A Current Affair this month.

‘Starting the working year at the @acurrentaffair9 desk. See you at 7pm,’ Sylvia captioned a post to her Instagram to mark the moment on January 2.

Why she moved from Today? Sylvia was moved from Nine’s low-rating morning show Today to a prime time slot with A Current Affair in 2019.

Sylvia has reportedly made a big impression with the network’s executives since becoming a reporter for the program.

An insider told Woman’s Day in 2019 she was heavily favoured to replace Tracy when she decided to leave the show.

The news came after Sylvia filled in for a couple of nights for TV veteran when she was absent from the show for two weeks.
