‘I’ll dip my toe back in’: Kym Marsh insists she will return to Coronation Street and admits it was a ‘weird’ time to quit soap as her work fell through during pandemic

Kym Marsh has admitted she won’t be away from the Corrie cobbles forever.

The actress, who played Michelle Connor on the ITV soap from 2006, quit in October 2019 to pursue other ventures.

But as she admitted the global pandemic took a toll on her work, Kym said she would love to ‘dip my toe back’ into Coronation Street one day.

Future plans: Kym Marsh has admitted she won’t be away from the Corrie cobbles forever after quitting the ITV soap in October 2019 to pursue other ventures

Kym on a Corrie return: ‘I really do miss everyone, I really miss the street. When I left I always said I’d come back one day and I will. I just needed to get out and take a little breather and do some other things. I have no doubt that on

Speaking to Entertainment Daily, Kym said: ”I really do miss everyone, I really miss the street. When I left I always said I’d come back one day and I will.’

‘I just needed to get out and take a little breather and do some other things. I have no doubt that one day I’ll go back there and dip my toe back in.’

But the star added that she didn’t pick the best time to pursue new ventures, explaining: ‘I have been really busy and I’ve been so fortunate, but obviously the year I left was really weird.’

Kym now presents BBC One morning lifestyle show Morning Live with Gethin Jones and true crime documentary Murder At My Door.

It was reported this week though that Kym will miss the first week of the second series of Morning Live as she is set to undergo an urgent operation after struggling with discomfort from a hernia for several months.

A BBC source told MailOnline: ‘We are expecting Kym to appear on air next week via Zoom,’ as the star is reportedly ‘gutted’ she’ll have to take a break from the show to have the hernia removed.

A source told The Sun: ‘Kym has been trying to have the operation for a while now as the problem she has is causing her quite a lot of discomfort.

‘She finally got a slot and then the dates for Morning Live moved slightly meaning they clashed.

‘She’s gutted to be missing the first week of the second series alongside Gethin but she really needs this sorting.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Kym Marsh for comment.

In October Kym revealed she’d been forced to stop her fitness training after struggling with the hernia, and it had left her feeling ‘less energetic’ and ‘not as toned.’

The actress made the revelation in her column for OK! magazine, writing: ‘I posted a photo of myself in a sports bra last week as I’ve been trying to get back into exercise.

‘I’m suffering from a hernia and it’s causing me pain. I’m still going to the gym but I’m not able to lift weights or go as hard as I normally would.

‘The doctors have suggested physio, but it’s not getting better and my schedule is so packed. I’m going to book surgery to have it removed.

“I’m gearing up for filming of Morning Live on the BBC this month. Thankfully, I’ve managed to get a place to live sorted and it’s all falling into place. I’m really excited to get started but I’ll still be coming back home every weekend to see my family!’
