Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards reveals she was ostracised at school

Perrie Edwards has shed light on her youth and revealed she was called ‘Virgin Lips’ at school due to her reluctance to kiss boys.

Speaking on The Rebecca Judd Show on Apple Music 1, the star, 27, joined the rest of Little Mix in discussing their younger years as she admitted that she had been a late bloomer yet once she reached the moment, she found her first kiss ‘magical’.

Bandmate Jade Thirlwall reflected on a similar experience when she had her first kiss at a festival, while their bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock was on hand to shed light on their stratospheric rise to fame over the past decade.

Perrie revealed: ‘I was like 15, and I’d never kissed anybody before, and I kept saying to my friends we’re leaving school this year, and prom is this year, and I’ve not even kissed anybody yet. I used to get called ‘virgin lips’ at school…

‘So many boys used to break up with me because they used to tell each other ‘don’t get with her, she won’t even kiss you or anything, she’ll only hold your hand’…

‘Yeah I was so shy, and I went on a date with this guy called Connor Robinson, and we met each other and went to the beach, because in South Shields we have a lovely beach, and went there and got hot chocolate…

‘We walked along the beach and sat and looked at the stars and it was romantic and then I had my first kiss and I was like ‘oh my god!’ and then he walked me back and I went home and that was it, but I remember it being so magical, I loved it.’

Jade followed on from the first kiss chat revealing: ‘So I went to a festival at Newcastle when I was younger, and Dizzee Rascal was headlining, and I had like one of my first neck ons with someone while Dizzee Rascal was performing…

‘I think he was doing ‘Bonkers’ and it was raining and it was like something out of a – well, in my head at the time as a 14 year old, it was like something out of a movie.’

Speaking about life after X Factor – which Little Mix won in 2011 – Leigh-Anne said: ‘Wow it was just a roller-coaster, we didn’t really get a second to breathe it was like boom, we’re gone…

‘I remember when we first won and were sort of dragged away from our parents, we saw them for ten minutes after we won, and then we had to go. We were up at 5am the next day for press and from there, we never stopped.’

‘I think the one time I was like shocked was when I went to Madison Square Garden to see One Direction, this was years ago, and I walked into the crowd, and the whole crowd started going crazy, to the point where my brother had to grab me and like push me back to safety because people were going mad…

‘And I remember looking at my Mam and thinking why is this happening and like going shopping with my mam after the show in the shopping centre and not being able to move and being asked for pictures…

‘My Mam panicking like ‘what do I do, what do I do, it’s a stampede!’ and remember thinking wow, this is my life now, I can’t really do the normal things’.
