Her endearing performance as an American fashion PR searching for love in France helped Netflix comedy Emily In Paris become one of lockdown’s guilty pleasures, but Lily Collins will soon have a happy ending in real life.
I hear the daughter of pop star Phil Collins has set a date for her wedding to Hollywood director Charlie McDowell and invitations have been sent out.
‘I was just invited to their wedding and it’s going to be amazing,’ Lily’s half-brother, Simon Collins, tells me.
Actress Lily Collins is seen on the set of ‘Emily in Paris’. She has announced her wedding date
The star of Netflix comedy Emily In Paris, Collins, who is the daughter of singer Phil Collins is to marry Charlie McDowell
While Lily is based in California, Simon, who is a rock musician like his father, lives in Ireland with his mother, Phil’s first wife, Andrea Bertorelli.
But the extended family keep in regular touch online. ‘I haven’t met Charlie in person, but we all talk on Zoom, and have our family catch-ups on there.’
Simon is busy promoting his new album, Becoming Human, which is ‘born out of loss and pain’.
He says: ‘It was a tumultuous time. I was in the aftermath of a divorce and also battling my drug addiction. There’s a lot of redemption in the music.’
Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife went for dinner with their neighbours, but when they knocked at the wrong house they ended up with a celebrity surprise…
When Sacha and his wife Isla knocked on the door, it was answered by Hollywood star Keanu Reeves
Getting to know the neighbours sounds like a hoot for British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and his actress wife, Isla Fisher, who moved to California.
‘Sacha and I were going to someone’s house for dinner,’ Isla recalls. ‘We’d never been there before, and we got lost.
‘Finally we came across this really big house, which we presumed was where they lived.
‘Rang the doorbell and this big Balinese, heavy-wood door swung open.
‘And standing there is Keanu Reeves. Wrong house.
‘Turns out he’s the most lovely guy, and he just directed us to the right house — like this was a regular occurrence.’
The son of the late Saudi King who finds himself in a spot of financial bother
Here’s someone you would never expect to bump into at the bankruptcy court in London: a son of the late King Saud of Saudi Arabia.
Yet Prince Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, scion of the richest royal family in the world with a reputed fortune of £70 billion, finds himself in a spot of financial bother.
The prince, one of 108 children of King Saud, has applied to the bankruptcy court to set aside a statutory demand — a legal demand for money owed, often a precursor to bankruptcy — filed by the Mobile Telecommunications Company.
It comes after the businessman was ordered to pay £386million by an English court in 2019.

Actress Billie Piper admits she struggled to give men orders when she directed her first film, Rare Beasts.
‘I found it hard saying to men, particularly, “No, I want it like this,” ’ admits the 38-year-old Secret Diary Of A Call Girl star (left).
‘It was quite an insightful experience.’
Billie — who has two sons with ex-husband Laurence Fox and a daughter with rocker Johnny Lloyd —plays a woman in Rare Beasts who deals with bad-mannered men.
She adds: ‘For the first time, I had absolutely no vanity and no desire to pore over my takes, which you can often do as an actor.’
(Very) modern manners
While some slouch in front of the television during lockdown, John Standing has been acquiring unlikely new skills at the age of 86.
‘I’ve been learning the moonwalk,’ the baronet actor tells me, referring to the move perfected by Michael Jackson in which the dancer glides backwards while their body actions suggest forward motion. ‘I saw someone do it on my iPad and giving lessons.’
Standing, who has appeared in hit dramas The Crown and Game Of Thrones, adds: ‘I can tap dance, so it came quite naturally.’ He hopes to resume his cabaret shows when the crisis is over, so let’s hope he gives a demonstration.
It’s sure to be a Thriller!
Priti Patel’s online job advert for a speech writer
Is Priti Patel struggling to attract talented staff after all those allegations of bullying?
I ask only because the Home Secretary has taken to social media network LinkedIn to advertise for a new speechwriter.
The salary is up to £63,000 so she shouldn’t have any recruitment problems.
The ad does warn, however: ‘This is a busy but dynamic office which tests your ability to work under pressure . . .’
