Gogglebox stars Symon Lovett and Adam Densten deny claims they were ‘forced’ to join I’m A Celeb

I’m A Celebrity star Symon Lovett denies claims his manager forced him and Gogglebox pal Adam Densten to join the jungle reality TV show

Gogglebox star Symon Lovett was sad to be evicted from the I’m A Celebrity jungle on Tuesday night’s episode.

And now he’s hit back at wild accusations of he and Gogglebox pal Adam Densten never wanting to be part of the Channel 10 show to begin with.

Gossip podcast So Dramatic had reported the pair were ‘forced’ to participate in the program by their management, claiming the duo thought they were ‘above it’.

The podcast’s anonymous source also claimed: ‘Their manager basically forced them to do the show, telling them, “You’re too precious. Your career is over. You need to do the jungle. It will give you the exposure you need to launch your other projects”.’

Now that Symon has been evicted from the show, he laughed off the claims and set the record straight with News.com.au on Wednesday.

‘It was actually us [Symon and Adam] who emailed the head of Channel 10,’ the -year-old said, rejecting any suggestion that they was ‘forced’ to by a manager.

While looking for other work with the network, Symon said they instead got an email back inviting them to join the jungle, which they ‘jumped at’.

They also previously told Daily Mail Australia: ‘We were incredibly lucky to be asked.’

While the boys didn’t appear to get the warmest of welcomes by their co-stars at first, Symon has also denied the podcast’s claims they were ‘iced out’ in camp.

According to intel from an alleged ‘insider’, podcast host Megan Pustetto said some camp mates ‘plotted to squash them out. Essentially they iced them out and the boys didn’t get a chance to bond with anyone. They did not last long at all’.

Viewers slammed Toni Pearen at the time for being ‘rude’ and ‘unwelcoming’ to Adam and Symon, Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico was skeptical of their role in camp, and Grant Denyer, Paulini Curuenavuli and Pettifleur Berenger didn’t move from their beds to greet them on arrival.

‘Everyone is tired, hungry, away from home, and had lost Jack Vidgen the day before, then they get two new people who are really excited and stink like fish guts. I wouldn’t have got up from my bed either,’ Symon told Daily Mail Australia.

Adam then clarified: ‘No one was looking at us with disdain, it was more “I’m in stunned shock”. There was a great close-up of Grant’s face. His mouth was open and you could tell his brain could not compute what was happening. More confusion than anything else.’

Symon said the reported and aired ‘frosty reception’ was focused on Toni and Colin Fassnidge, but the duo actually grew really close to the pair during filming.

‘I know Colin and Adam got particular close, and Toni was one of the people that really looked out for me and took me under her wing,’ Symon added.
