Gregg Wallace flashes his abs as he coaches ‘Lycra-clad’ Jeremy Vine through a live core workout

Gregg Wallace – who famously shed four stone and carved himself an impressive set of abs after overhauling his foodie habits – put Jeremy Vine through his paces on Monday live on Channel 5.

The MasterChef host, 56, appeared via video link to coach Jeremy, 55, and co-host Storm Huntley, 33, though a core workout on The Jeremy Vine Show.

And Gregg was sure to take the opportunity to flash his washboard stomach, lifting up his T-shirt and asking ‘do you want abs like these?’

‘That’s not a six-pack, that’s a seven-pack!’ Jeremy exclaimed, having stripped down to a pair of turquoise gym shorts, claiming to be ready to go in his Lycra.

Gregg tried his best to walk Jeremy and Storm through the routine as they got onto exercise mats on the floor and performed their moves.

Both complained throughout, with Gregg generally inaudible from the screen in the background.

He revealed last months that his doctors warned him that if he didn’t lose weight he was set to have a heart attack.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain at the start of January, Gregg detailed the stark warning he was given by medical professionals before he embarked on a healthier lifestyle and shed the excess pounds.

He explained: ‘The doctor said you have huge cholesterol here, unless you do something you’re going to have a heart attack.

‘I went on a weight loss and fitness site and in there I tell you how I went from the guy on the left hand side of the screen [to the one on the right]. I’m 56 years old what do you think guys.’

Detailing healthy ways people can lose weight, he went on to say he doesn’t ‘believe in diets’ as they’re not sustainable.

He explained: ‘Seriously for people I don’t believe in diets, I don’t believe in doing something you can’t sustain, I don’t believe in starving yourself three times a week.

‘What I believe in is making positive steps in the right direction gradually, that way you move yourself into a healthy lifestyle. Listen to this carefully, you don’t have to be uncomfortable and hungry to lose weight.’

The MasterChef host previously admitted that his younger wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, 34, was one of the reasons behind him shedding the pounds as he didn’t want her to have a ‘fat old husband’.

Gregg also said he wanted to be ‘fit and healthy’ for their young son Sid, 16 months, after doctors warned him he was heading for a heart attack if he didn’t change his ways.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Gregg who also has two grown-up children with ex-wife Denise, says his youngest child gave him the ultimate motivation to overhaul his physique.

He said: ‘Having my baby boy made me want to be fit and strong. I can now go for long walks, which I wouldn’t have been able to do before.’

The TV star married wife Anne-Marie in August 2016 at a luxurious ceremony in Hever Castle in Kent.

And Gregg noted that it is the almost 20-year age difference between them which further drives him to be fit and healthy.

He continued: ‘Anne being younger than me was even more of an inspiration to be fit – you can have an old husband but she didn’t have to have a fat, old husband.’

Aside from looking good for his wife of four years, the presenter received a big wake up call when he was informed he had dangerously high cholesterol and was at risk of having a heart attack.

After dropping down to 12st, Gregg keeps up his weight loss with regular work-outs five times a week.
