Erin Molan reveals she wanted to host the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic… but the job went to Allison Langdon instead

Erin Molan started her new gig on 2Day FM’s breakfast show alongside Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee last month.

And while she’s enjoying the ride alongside the two comedians, the 37-year-old has admitted she would have jumped at the chance to join Nine’s Today program.

‘There have been openings on Today and I would have absolutely loved to have had a call-up,’ Erin told Stellar magazine.

Despite her experience in TV, the presenter has been overlooked for jobs at Nine.

‘It hasn’t happened. That’s life. You deal with that a million times over in any industry,’ she said.

The Today show is hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.

They were appointed co-anchors early last year, after the partnership of Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight in 2019 was a ratings flop.

Despite the female co-host role going to Allison, Erin isn’t too upset about not being appointed to the Today show.

The media personality – who shares a two-year-old daughter, Eliza, with her fiancé, police officer Sean Ogilvy – said she was thrilled to be joining the 2Day FM family.

She also joked that being a mother had prepared her for the early wake-ups.
