Drill-rapping ‘jihadi claimed “Boris’s treachery and deceit” would lead to riots and fall of West

A rapping alleged jihadist claimed the Prime Minister’s ‘treachery, stupidity and deceit’ would lead to riots and the fall of the West, the old Bailey heard today.

Sahayb Abu bought an 18 inch gladiator-style sword, a combat vest, two balaclavas, fingerless gloves and a combat hat, jurors heard.

The 27-year-old from Dagenham, East London, allegedly researched the US embassy, the Israeli embassy, the Indian embassy, the Russian embassy and the Saudi embassy in London.

His brother Muhamed Abu, 32, knew all about his relative’s views and was under a legal obligation to tell the authorities what Sahayb was up to but did not, jurors heard.

On May 27 last year, Sahayb Abu went online to declare: ‘I, as a Muslim, will be the first to tell you that Islam is for war, hostage taking, killing infidels, fighting tyranny, taking war booty, taking women of the enemy as concubines.’

In messages the same day with his two brothers, Abu added: ‘Boris is going to do well for the ummah [Muslim nation] and he doesn’t even know it.

‘His treachery, stupidity and deceit will cause major riots and economic strife to this country to the extent they’re gonna have to set up a Go Fund Me account for their crusade wars against the ummah of Muhammad.’

His older brother, Muhamed responded: ‘An ever so weak West will emerge and a battle-hardened ummah and the west will fail, allahu akbar [god is great].’

Sahayb responded with the same shout of allahu akbar and added: ‘The time is nigh brothers wallahi [I swear].’

Muhamed added that ‘the time for soft Islam is over’ and said: ‘2020 is and was the gateway to a new kind of world wallahi, watch.’

Sahayb said: ‘I too need to prepare myself, train, eat little and up your ibaadat tawheed al walaa wal baraa [hating non-Muslims] train physically get better spiritually with Allah.

‘The time is coming the tables are turning the wind of change has arrived. Allah has blessed us to think like this and not being wastemans.

‘We will do deeds that please our lord bitnillah [in the name of god]. Don’t let the caravan pass us and we’re still playing PS4 [computer games]. Inshallah Islam has only one outcome and that’s triumph.’

Sahayb appeared to taunt his brother Suraaka because he could not manage to do 10 press ups but Suraaka responded: ‘Even if I can’t do one press up, best believe I can squeeze the trigger and dip any man down. It don’t take no press ups to shank [stab] a man in his jugular.’

Sahayb replied: ‘I love that Suraqa but calm it down bro.’

At the same time as the conversation was going on, Sahayb, using the name Max Landsberg, was emailing a company to see if he could still buy a sword during lockdown.

He wrote: ‘Hi there, I was wondering if due to the virus lockdown whether Southern Swords are still selling items listed on their website? Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Max.’

He got a reply from ‘Sue’ saying: ‘Hi thanks for your email, yes we are still open and selling as usual’.

Sahayb then wanted to know: ‘Are they good quality? Because they look fantastic! And the prices are good. But I was wondering if they are long lasting and durable? Thank you for taking the time to reply, Max.’

Told the weapons were made by another company called Windlass steel crafts ‘who are a very good company and make excellent products,’ Sahayb wrote: ‘OK, thanks, thank you for your response and have a splendid day.’

Dramatic video of the arrests showed a squad of officers bursting into a house on Ilfracombe Gardens in Goodmayes, Redbridge, shortly before a man is dragged out and handcuffed. Separate video from a neighbouring property near Green Lane by Goodmayes Park also showed armed police descending on a block of flats last year

Nine days earlier, Sahayb had messaged his brother Muhamed after a discussion about the al-Qaeda ideologue Anwar al-Awlaki saying: ‘I’m not changing I believe the wealth and blood of kuffar is halal [permitted].’

The next day he saved Osama bin Laden’s ‘letter to America’ from November 2002, two months after 9/11, which justified the killing of civilians.

On May 21, Muhamed used to the internet to look up Khalid Masood, the killer of PC Keith Palmer in a vehicle and knife attack in Westminster in March 2017.

The same day, Sahayb saved mocked-up images on Whatsapp of Big Ben on fire, the US Capitol in flames, and a burning EU flag.

The Abu brothers were arrested following an operation involving the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command at their London addresses in July 2020.

Sahayb Abu, from Dagenham, Essex, denies preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

His older brother, Muhamed Abu, 32, from South Norwood, London, is accused of failing to inform police of his brother’s plans.

The trial continues.
