Fast food chain Wendy’s hilariously roasts Armie Hammer over alleged cannibalism in savage tweet to Lionsgate on #NationalRoastDay

It was #NationalRoastDay on Thursday and fast food chain Wendy’s had a field day roasting people and brands on twitter for fun.

One particularly savage now-deleted tweet raised a few eyebrows when the burger joint founded by Dave Thomas poked fun at actor Armie Hammer’s recent alleged cannibalism fantasies.

To add insult to injury, the Hammer ‘roast’ tweet was in response to film studio Lionsgate who is producing rom-com Shotgun Wedding, the film the actor recently quit in the wake of the scandal.

Wendy’s social media team was already well known for their hysterical, witty and, occasionally, line-crossing tweets when the invited followers to be roasted this week.

The initial post read: ‘Time for everybody’s favorite made up social media holiday. It’s #NationalRoastDay, like right now. Drop a ‘Roast Me’ below and feel the burn.’

The company had some fun with Oreos, Coca-Cola and Velveeta among others but it was their response to Lionsgate that drew major attention.

‘Ok I’ll play … roast me,’ the studio tweeted.

'We'd give you a hand but we're afraid one of your actors might eat it,' Wendy's responded to Lionsgate in a tweet in apparent reference to leaked social media messages about cannibalism purported to have been authored by Hammer; the tweet was later deleted

Last month Armie backed out of an upcoming Lionsgate film with Jennifer Lopez following a controversial leak of lurid social media messages alleged to be from the oil heir/actor.

In the texts, the writer graphically spoke about BDSM, cannibalism and excessive drug use.

It was followed by a leak of private Instagram where Hammer was seen bragging about passing a drug-test despite having DMT in his system, and also flashing an image of a lingerie-clad woman on all fours.

Armie addressed the allegations on January 14th, sharing: ‘I’m not responding to these b*****t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.

‘Lionsgate is supporting me in this, and I’m grateful to them for that.’

Lionsgate offered their own statement that day, announcing: ‘Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film, and we support him in his decision.’

Josh Duhamel was later cast to replace the disgraced actor and is currently in negotiations to fill his role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
