Jeff Brazier admits he is worried about son Bobby, 17, starting a modelling career

Jeff Brazier has admitted he is concerned about his aspiring model son embarking on a career in the spotlight – just like his late mother Jade Goody.

Bobby Brazier, 17, has seen his modelling career go from strength to strength in the last year, and while Jeff, 41, is supportive of his son’s aspirations, the star said he did worry ‘on behalf of himself’ and Jade.

The TV presenter is also father to son Freddie, 16, from his relationship with the late star, who died from cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27.

Speaking to   The Mirror, Jeff revealed that he worries about his son stepping into a modelling career, and the ‘difficult experiences’ this can bring with it.

Jeff said: ‘Definitely, as this particular parent who obviously not only had his own difficult experiences but also can cite many occasions when when his mum went through the same.

‘I think that I do enough worrying on behalf of both me and his mum when it comes to what he might be subject to.’

He added: ‘I just hope that everyone’s kind, I hope that he looks after himself and makes good decisions and has always been for him to be to have a skill and a talent to develop those things.

Last month, Jeff detailed his children’s experience of the third nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

In the first episode of his new podcast Only Human, he admitted his son Freddie has been struggling with homeschooling during the pandemic as he ‘isn’t particularly academic’.

The Shipwrecked star also shared the teen’s hopes of becoming a barber once he completes his GCSEs, while his oldest kid Bobby has been on a ‘voyage into self-development’ throughout the global crisis.

‘He’s in his GCSE year. I mean, imagine of all the years it can happen to you within your education, for it to be literally the most important one is really unlucky. Freddie has never loved school. He’s not particularly academic.

‘I’ve always been very mindful of not squeezing the square peg through the round hole as it were.

‘He also knows what he wants to do in his apprenticeship. He wants to be a barber. And so as a result, it’s almost like; right, all we’ve got to do is really get [him ready] for the next six months and get him the other side of it so he doesn’t have to re-sit anything.’

The former Grays Athletic footballer went on to reflect on Bobby’s ‘self-educating’ journey during the past few months.

Jeff said of the aspiring model: ‘Bobby has been on a real journey. I mean, up until a couple of months ago, maybe he still really didn’t know who he was, what path he was taking, what he wanted to do next.

‘And then all of a sudden, I think in the whole midst of lockdowns, he just went on a bit of a voyage into self-development. And, you know, it wasn’t even anything that I had instigated.’

Jeff is married to his wife of two years, Kate Dwyer, 30, after the couple tied the knot in September 2018, but experienced some problems late in 2019, with Jeff admitting they were working through their problems.

He also revealed that his wife’s relationship with his sons has ‘grown’, saying: ‘It’s developed into something that is more than I could have asked for.’
