Daniel Gorringe has finally popped the question to his long-suffering girlfriend Ana Cannon – and this time, he’s serious.
After pulling a prank proposal in November last year, he finally got down on one knee on Friday, announcing the happy news via Instagram on Sunday.
Sharing a photo of the pair together, and Ana showing off her diamond sparkler, the 28-year-old former AFL playing confirmed the couple were engaged.

He wrote: ‘On Friday I asked my best friend to marry me (for real this time). Here’s to forever loving you’.
Ana also shared a photo of the precious moment, in which she cuddles up to her man while holding a glass of champagne.
She captioned it simply with a love heart and the date of the engagement, ‘19.02.21’.

In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, Daniel explained: ‘So a lot of you have seen the video where Ana comes home, I get down on one knee as if I’m going to promise, but really I am just asking if I can go to the pub with the boys.
‘I felt really bad off that. And I was thinking, how do I make it up to her? And there’s really only one way I could make it up to her and only one way I wanted to make it up to her’.
He then played a clip of the moment he got down on one knee and proposed in a scenic field, with Ana clutching her face and crying out, ‘Oh my god!’ as she was presented with her ring.

Daniel made headlines last year when he staged a fake proposal to Ana at home.
He placed a hidden camera in their Melbourne home to capture the special moment – but it didn’t quite go to plan.
‘There comes a time in every man’s life where you find “the one”. You realise that you can’t live your life without her and that she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you,’ Daniel began his proposal video.

When Ana returned home, Dan greeted her at the door, saying: ‘So you know how I love you more than anything in this world? And I couldn’t live my life without you?’
Daniel then got down on one knee, as Ana cupped her hands over her face in elation.
However, her boyfriend soon quashed her hopes by asking if he could go out with the boys on the weekend.

Meanwhile, Daniel cheekily asked her if it was a ‘yes or no’.
His Big Brother co-stars and Instagram fans laughed at the prank, but others said it was a ‘horrible’ and ‘ruthless’ trick that would likely ruin their real proposal.
Even Ana herself responded in the comments, saying Daniel was a ‘deadset f**kwit’.

‘We broke up because I wasn’t mature enough,’ Daniel said. ‘It’s so scary to lose the thing you love the most, and not to know if it will ever come back.’
When he entered the Big Brother house, Daniel told host Sonia Kruger: ‘I am single, but there’s somebody on the outside that I want to try and get back with.’
The couple are believed to have first started dating in early 2019.
Daniel had long been the bookies’ favourite to win Big Brother, but it was model Chad Hurst who took home the $234,000 prize during the live finale in July 2020.
