Inside Australia’s most toxic celebrity friendship group as two women ‘leak gossip about each other despite claiming to be friends on Instagram’

Two celebrities who claim to be friends on Instagram are reportedly leaking stories about each other to an anonymous gossip account.

Celeb Spellcheck, which is run by a Melbourne PR professional with impeccable sources, made the allegation during a Q&A session last week.

The profile’s administrator claimed the two women often submit gossip about each other, even though ‘they’re “friends” on the ‘gram’.

A fan asked, ‘What Insta celeb friendship circle / group do you think is the most problematic?’

The admin replied: ‘There’s two girls in particular that send in stuff about one another and they’re “friends” on the ‘gram. Very strange.’

Celeb Spellcheck, which has more than 132,000 followers, did not reveal the names of the two women.

Celeb Spellcheck explained

Celeb Spellcheck began a few years ago as an account making fun of Instagram models’ poor spelling, but has since become a platform for holding influencers to account for their lies and irresponsible behaviour.

The profile is also a hub for user-submitted gossip about influencers.

Celeb Spellcheck has attracted criticism in recent months, with the likes of Tayla Damir accusing the page of ‘bullying’.

Celeb Spellcheck is dedicated to spreading gossip and correcting typos, which has led to some influencers accusing the account of ‘bullying’.

During an Instagram Q&A in February, the mystery administrator – who is believed to be in her twenties – noted that the likes of Sophie Cachia, Steph Claire Smith, Jadé Tuncdoruk and Tayla Damir had blocked her.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting any of these women, or indeed any of the people mentioned by name in this article, have leaked stories to Celeb Spellcheck.

Disgruntled: Celeb Spellcheck didn't specify why these influencers had blocked her, but followers of the account wouldn't have a problem working it out. For example, she has criticised Love Island star Tayla Damir (pictured) for her poor spelling on several occasions. Daily Mail Australia reported last month that a group of disgruntled Instagram models were working together to uncover the identity of the woman who runs Celeb Spellcheck.

The influencers were convinced they’d worked out who was behind the profile by piecing together the clues the administrator had shared about her life.

Despite this, Celeb Spellcheck insists no one has correctly guessed who she is.

Who is Celeb Spellcheck?

The Celeb Spellcheck admin has never revealed her name, but has offered bits of biographical information in her weekly Q&As, including that she is

  • a woman in her late twenties (she turned 28 in December)
  • works full-time in public relations
  • hails from the Mornington Peninsula but now lives in Melbourne’s south-east
  • is in a long-term relationship
  • her boyfriend and ‘three or four friends’ know she’s Celeb Spellcheck
  • isn’t friends with influencers and gets her gossip from followers

Celeb Spellcheck began a few years ago as an account making fun of poor spelling on sponsored Instagram posts, but has since become a platform for holding influencers to account for their lies and irresponsible behaviour.

The profile is also a hub for user-submitted gossip.

Because of this, Celeb Spellcheck has drawn comparisons to DeuxMoi, the popular Instagram account that collects and dishes out unverified rumours about American celebrities from its almost 800,000 followers.

The gaffe went viral in December when it was picked up by U.S. social media sensation Joshua Ostrovsky, a.k.a. The Fat Jewish.
